“Good location for Bars & shops”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

We stayed here as part of the start of an organised tour so we cant give much information.
We stayed one night and arrived around 6pm and left very early the next day.

Location is right on the main street near Khao San Road, lots of bars, shops and places to eat but very busy with tourists. We were there on Songkran which is their new year so it was CRAZY... the streets were closed off and it was mega loud. I dont know how loud it usually is but I would say by the read of other reviews maybe ask for a room at the back of the hotel as we were at the front and it sounded like we had a room full of people until about 3-4am!

Check in was easy and straight forward and the staff were friendly.
The room was basic, bed pretty hard, no english speaking channels and the channels they did have had bad signal. Bathroom really low ceiling so anyone tall would struggle to shower!
They did leave water in the room which was helpful.

I would say if you want a base then this is fine but if you want anything more or somewhere quiet then this place is not for you.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back if you want any sleep!

Dear blondeEm1986

Our aim is to allow our guest to make the most out of their holiday wit our blessing by having such a stunning location, surrounded by the Jaopraya River, the famous Grand Palace and once in a year SongKran celebration right on the door step and most certainly to deliver a genuine service that is sincerely Thai’s. I am please to read that you received professional friendly service rendered by our team who always ready to assist at anytime and any way they are capable of.

With the English speaking channels to do have them provided for our guest, such as BBC, Discovery channel Etc. I will definitely check up on the room you stayed to find out if there is any connection difficulty occurred during Thai’s New Year.

Viengtai is in progress of giving a face-lift in guest rooms to provide a fresh contemporary presentation. We do have such a high hope to welcome you back again and I am confident you will be amazed by the changes.

Best Regards

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014 via mobile

Stayed here a few nights in April on two occasions.
Been staying here on and off for 10+ years.
The front desk service has deteriorated, like the building itself, now feels very old and in need of a spruce up.

Their web site booking says...free welcome drink and late check out with their Web booking. in reality the staff have no knowledge of this and rudely deny any knowledge of what is on their web site.
There are better options nearby.

Dear Kiwijeeper

It is honored to have your loyalty for the past ten years and we value your input as much as your praise. Genuinely, I am very sorry to hear there were aspects of your stay that was clearly unacceptable. Please take my apology into account and rest assured this issue will be one of the topics for our management team to find out solution and prevention.

With respect to décor, we are well under way with a program of transformation to guest room and our restaurant and I am convinced you will be pleased about the improvement which we do hope to have a chance to change your impression next time you visit.

Best Regards

Neat and tidy room, very helpful staff at the hotel and tour desk. Breakfasts were best we have had on this 3 week trip to Thailand. For other meals head out to the street, lots of options from restaurants to excellent stall/ street food.

Great location as others have said, near Grand Palace and Wat Pho ( use the free shuttle provided by hotel) and close to the river too. Recommend using the river taxi instead of car/ tuk tuk at peak hours to avoid traffic. River gives great views and relief from very busy streets, cheap too, don't use the tourist ferry, use the local boats at 15 BH a person to just about any stop up or down the river.

Good value for money.

Room Tip: We asked for a back room to be away from street side and there was no view. Opaque window. Not a big...

Dear Karen C
Fantastic review you gave us Karen C. Your comment has put a big smile on my face especially best breakfast you have had in 3 weeks. Our Continental breakfast which includes original Thai food, pastries fresh made from our own bakery kitchen with many years experience chef working together with our long time Thai Head Chef designing great combination menus to energize our guest in the morning. Next time you visit us I recommend trying our dinner.

Tuk Tuk has been part of Thai culture nearly 50 years now. You are very clever to find another traveling choice. I agree, local boats brings diverse outlook and cheaper too.
I hope we might be able to welcome you back to Viengtai soon. In the meantime like us on Facebook or contact us at rsvn@viengtai.co.th to check out our promotions.

I booked a room for a couple of nights in this hotel when I decided to experience for myself how Songkran is celebrated in this part of the city. Now that I've been there myself, I could say that the celebrations there can get pretty wild!

While it's a blast to party along with the crowd, it's nice to be able to take a break from time to time. Thankfully, this hotel was able to provide a safe/orderly oasis even at the peak of the frenzy just outside on the street.

It isn't located along Khao San road itself but Rambuttri can also get pretty packed during Songkran especially towards the end of the day. The hotel also has an entrance along Tani street so this could be an easier access during party time.

Dear HFE75

Thank you for your review, I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. Thai’s new Year / Song Kran is a grand time to be part of, as there was real buzz about Khao San Road, Thais and Foreigners joining the famous water flight ,get wet and covered in powder. I am glad you chose to come to Thailand during Song Kran Festival and Viengtai was a great host to you as you mentioned that we were able to provide a safe/orderly oasis during the most well-known festival.

We would very much like to welcome you back to hotel in the future, perhaps during your next holiday or business trip. Please let us know when you have the though.

Best Regards

We had limited time in Bangkok. This hotel was beautifully positioned for exploring Koh San Road and surrounds. Yes it is where all the tourists hang out- but when you have limited time- you head for the tried and tested! Rooms were comfortable with nice bathroom and great shower. My only criticism would be they charge you a deposit for a lot of things and this involves slow paper work- which is a bit laborious when you keen to get outside and explore. Deposit for key, deposit for use of safe etc. The concierge was very kind and walked us down the road to get a taxi as it was new year and there were lots of roads blocked off- above and beyond for sure. A great hotel and great stay.

Dear Vickyfromsa

What an incredible review to read. It sounds like you have had the wonderful time here with us. I am disappointed that our common practice to room key deposit, Front office safe deposit delayed you from exploring the great Bangkok when you were keen to. This has been noted to our reception team to be aware of guest’s need and process paperwork in advance to express service.

I am very much look forward to welcome you back Thailand to discover what wasn’t discovered last time. I am certain Thailand still have surprise waiting for you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts so that we can review and improve our processes to provide a better service experience. We genuinely look forward to seeing you again on your next visit to Thailand.

Best Regards

Spent 5 nights at the Viengtai (poolside room) a couple of weeks ago and within the establishment everything remains excellent value for money. In the 18 months or so since my last visit, Rambuttri (the street on which the Viengtai is located) has continued to grow and is both vibrant and exciting without being too loud or seedy. All in all a nice place to be.

Stayed here a couple of times for short one/two night stays as part of a longer organised tour.

First reaction was nice lobby area and friendly fast helpful staff. Location was good if u want to be near tourist attractions of Khao San Road, but beware with that comes a very noisy night's sleep from the road or car park!

Nice feature to have a pool but it was grubby and awkward to get to. Reminded me of having to walk down the corridor in the shining.
Rooms were good size but run down, dated, with sticky Lino floors or stained carpets. Bathrooms were a bit mouldy with limescale deposits, but adequate.
