Stayed there 3 nights. First night, for some reason they upgraded us for free because the regular rooms were all booked. So it was definitely worth it, the rooms were clean and everything was really nice. After a week we came back and we got booked a regular room. Totally, different room. The walls were shabby and the carpet and vents were all rusted and moldy. The breakfast is AWESOME. All in all, I recommend you upgrade but a good value for its money.

Despite reviews we had read on websites, the hotel was below what we were expecting. Located right in the middle of the sex strip of Sukhimvit (which is fine if that's what you're after), the hotel looks fairly decent from the outside and maybe 5-6 years ago it was a 'sterile American chain' hotel. It is a tired looking building with tatty rooms, rude and inefficient staff and far too many middle aged men after some 'Bangkok fun'. We booked a delux room which was sorely in need of new air con (sounded like a motor bike) and with severe lack of lighting in the windowless bathroom. Breakfast was decent though with plenty of choice for all nationalities. What spoilt this hotel was mainly location and the poor standard of room. If you just want to crash somewhere then this place is fine but if you're after using your hotel as a base, stay somewhere closer to Siam. As general advice, don't bother with Bangkok and go straight to Chiang Mai and stay as long as possible as there is enough to occupy you there for at least 7-10 days.

We have been to BKK several times, but this was our first time at HOTEL MANHATTAN. The location is great. About a 5 minute walk to NANA BTS station. The front desk told us the nearest station was ASOK station, but that wasn't true. In fact, at NANA station there is a Hotel Manhattan marker on the exit sign so you'll always know which exit to take. The lobby is nice, the rooms are satisfactory, housekeeping is GREAT, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast is satisfactory. The breakfast buffet features American, Japanese, Korean and Thai dishes. The American food (french toast, sliced ham, omelettes to order, toast, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea and milk) was fair. I did have some of the sushi and it wasn't good. Didn't try the Korean food so can't comment on the selections. My husband enjoyed the local Thai selections. A lot of reviews mentioned the nearby construction and noise. I requested a high floor and away from the construction and my request was granted. I didn't hear any construction noise whatsoever. While there is CNN down in the lobby TV, they only offer BBC in the rooms for international news. I think that was our only "complaint." We would stay here again.

On Our last trip to Bangkok i decided to try out 2 Hotels ( same kinda price range ) The Manhatten and The Ambassador Hotel. And without doubt The Manhatten wins hands down, granted The Ambassador's decor and overall ambience was a better class. But The Manhatten which is a quarter of the size win's on the strength from the very friendly and helpful staff, The breakfast was great, The room was your normal room, clean, big TV, good A/C, and the safe was a lot bigger than your normal safe. The swimming pool is very small with just 3 sunbeds and 2 sets of table and chair's. There is a Massage centre on the 3rd floor with a pool & Spa area. The Location is great, 2 minutes walk to Asok Skytrain Station, The hotel is situated 50 Yards up in a quiet''ish street ( Sukhumvit Soi 15 ). For £15 pn including breakfast you will not do better than this little gem.

Stayed here last October and now it is my choice of hotel when I am in Bangkok on short stays. The main reasons for this are the location, being in a quiet yet central location on Sukhamvit Road, and the price ( I paid a total of $27US for a twin room with breakfast when I booked online). Other reasons include the polite staff, the fact there is a safe big enough for my laptop and other valuables in the room and the overall cleanliness of the hotel and rooms.
