I got my room for US$38/night for 3 nights, which was awesome. The hotel itself is quite nice for the price I paid. A great pool as well. Breakfast was free and filling. Although the hotel is away from the touristy areas/other hotels, it is kind of an advantage because you have an excuse to use to take the water taxis (which is only 10 Baht each way to and from the city center/subway/etc.) and tuk-tuks, which I think added to my experience staying in Bangkok. The hotel is a high rise and you have a beautiful city view at night, it is also a Bangkok landmark because of its size and all taxi drivers/tuk-tuk drivers, etc know its location, which is impressive considering the hundreds/thousands of hotels/hostels in Bangkok. It is also quite near the grand palace, etc. I was nervous about the location when I booked, but it ended up being a good thing because you get to see what the real Bangkok/markets/street life is like, whereas most hotels are located along the Monorail line/westernized areas and just miss out on the true Bangkok cultural aspect that Prince Palace affords it's guests because of its location, which is only a 5-10 minute water taxi ride to the shopping district/touristy areas. The water taxi station is directly next to the hotel along the canal. I would try another hotel next time I visit (but that's just the way I do things, I like to stay at different places each time I travel) but I was happy with my stay at Prince Palace and would recommend it to anyone looking for value who isn't opposed to taking water taxis (which like I said, are actually fun and more convenient and efficient due to the heavily congested/slow roads of Bangkok).
I thought this hotel was AWESOME. I paid $43 dollars per night, and got a huge room, with a wonderful view of the city. Bo Bae tower is an amazing structure, and the hotel has 5 restaurants. We ate at the Chinese one. While it's more expensive than the average Thai restaurant, it was still very inexpensive by Western standards, and had really delicious food. I think we paid an average of $15 per head for seafood. Plus, the waiter was really nice. We ordered large serving portions of food, but he told us that we'd only need medium. After giving him a nice tip for saving us money, he was genuinely grateful. Another night we had room service, I think my dish cost $5!
As far as location, it's located centrally. There's not a whole lot right around the hotel, but its only 70 baht away from the big market. Plus, there is a 7-11 right downstairs, which is handy for snacks.
Breakfast can get a little hectic; I'd recommend going down as early as possible to avoid the rush.
This large sterile hotel lacks warmth and personality. The staff was shocking in how they handled interactions with guest (and each other for that matter). It was like pulling teeth to find out any information about the hotel, area or transportation. They didn't even have maps of the city until finally the produced a photocopied piece of paper. The desk staff were very lazy and reluctant to give any information. I don't know if they didn't know or just were not interested in helping.
From what I could tell there are alot of Asian tour groups that use this hotel as well as many Russians. Perhaps smiling is not in their training because the entire three days the only people who smiled at me were the doormen. They were friendly and lovely each time I saw them.
Breakfast was not good in any way, shape or form. How they managed to serve everything cold, even as just were just bringing it out of the kitchen, is beyond me.
The rooms were drab and musty, the cable TV was fuzzy, and if you wanted anything extra (what they advertise comes with the room) like robes, newspaper or slippers, you had to ask three times.
The elevators were a joke as both sides in tower C seem to work independently of each other so no matter what, you will likely hit every single floor on the way down because people push both sides to call the elevators. Even then, you are lucky if it lets you off on the floor you would like. Sometimes it zoomed right past taking us into some dungeon area that the sign said was forbidden for guests.
I couldn't wait to leave so when they demanded that I sit for 5 minutes while they checked the room, I politely refused, knowing I hadn't used anything from the mini-bar (if you can call a few bottles of beer and a bag of peanuts).
The only thing I really liked about this place was the view from my 23rd floor window. The location was not bad if you want to do shopping which is just two boat stops away (just 8 baht). There is also a ton of warehouse shopping in Bo Bae Tower where this is located. None of that, however, was enough to ever bring me back to this hotel.
The hotel was nice, but the service was really horrible.
1 January morning we wanted to eat something at the restaurant, but all the seats were taken (The restaurant was WAY to small). There were like 1000 rooms and only like150 seats in the restaurant.) When we finally found a seat, the table was very , very, dirty.
There were no more plates for us, almost no more drinks...
The restaurant was just horrible.
But the rooms were really perfect.
The beds were really nice, It was a big room,
Just nice.
But however i dont suggest the hotel to others.
Only go there if you like a big, bizzy hotel.
or if you go to an other restaurant for breakfast.
if you want to use internet you need to pay 100 baht for only 10 minutes there...
Don't go there ;-)
