“Unfriendly and bad location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

We were very disapointed with this hotel. The room seemed that it was last updated in the 90s, the customer service was the worst we experienced in our two weeks in Thailand, and it felt unsafe to walk outside afterdark in this neighborhood. The hostel we'd stayed at in the beginning of our trip was better than this hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Great facilities, friendly staff. Great pool for the children. International buffet breakfast enjoyable. Not too far from Kao San road and Siam paragon and shopping centres. Tour desk not very informative.

For the money what we paid for the room it is good value. The room is big (with seperat bedroom) and bathroom but the furniture and carpet needs to be updated. There is a little kitchen which is good. One nice little detail was that we could watch some news from the Netherlands on the tv :-)

This is the second time we have stayed here. It did seem to have improved overall in the last year. The foyer and public areas are amazing. The rooms however are very basic. The hotel is surrounded by wholesale market stalls. This is the selling point for us. The prices on clothing here is the cheapest you will get in Thailand. If you are catching a taxi from outside the hotel make sure you get the driver to use the meter as it is much cheaper. If you are booking a tour from the tour desk inside the hotel you can negotiate a cheaper price.

We stayed here for our 1st time in bangkok. 2 night stay with our 3 children, youngest being 9 . As soon as we arrived we were greeted warmly and directed straight to checkin YES on 11th floor but this is not inconvienant at all just into lift and up you go. Our bags were taken as soon as we arrived, and brought to our room.Quick check in and even though we were in tower b directions were simple and at each door there was someone there to open doors and very friendly. Room was 3 bedroom suite old and a bit tired but CLEAN and roomy. Our boys locked themselves out of their room so they called lobby and no problem up very quickly, only happy to help. There are two pools both fantastic and Clean , however main pool on 11th floor gets quite windy.
Shopping around hotel opens at 5 or 6 am and closures about 1 great bargains.
Tip food in hotel quiet expensive, I advise eat out. We didn't and cost way too much .
There is also at end of street a boat u can take, we did cost about 10bht , took it to MBk shopping mall ( 2 stops) and a short stroll. Excellent experience
All In all
Great hotel and, friendly staff

Excellent place to escape the streets of Bangkok. Beautiful hotel we were amazed at how lovely the hotel was considering the cheap price we paid. Had to pay for wifi and was a little expensive and only accessible from main floor but still good connection.
Room was quite big with 2 bathrooms 3 bedrooms, a lounge room and kitchen. Beds were very comfy and room was very clean. Furniture was a little old fashioned but still in perfect condition. Only minor problem we had was sometimes our room key card wouldn't work but staff were great and sent someone up straight away.
Only note I have is make sure you get fresh milk at the breakfast buffet as my sister didn't and ended up quite ill.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Spent 2 nights here in a Superior Room in September 2013. A friendly porter offered immediate assistance with our luggage once we alighted from the cab. Checked in without any hassle and was given a room with a superb view of Bangkok on the 27th floor. The staff are friendly and pleasant, and most of the front-line personnel speak a decent bit of English.

The room was spacious enough with 2 super single sized beds that were very comfortable. The furnishings looked a little jaded and outdated but nevertheless the room we got was was clean with a certain coziness to it. The lighting however was a little too dim for me personally. The aircon was a little temperamental and it was quite hard to adjust it to a temperature that was comfortable without sweltering or freezing.

Unfortunately on the night we checked-in, the bathroom pipe was clogged and flooded the bathroom floor after a shower. Called housekeeping services and a lady was promptly dispatched to evaluate the problem. After a few unsuccessful attempts to clear the water, she called for further assistance. A man appeared about 10 minutes later and after much vigorous pumping, the water was cleared but the process also brought up some stank filthy residue which wasn't properly cleaned. The man left after indicating that someone would return to wash the floor but no one turned up. After 15 minutes I had to call housekeeping again and a different lady returned with a rather sour face, probably wondering why she was asked to clean a bathroom at 11.30 pm. I suppose her surly expression resulted from poor communication regarding the problem with our bathroom, due to the staff’s lack of efficiency in English when I tried to explain the matter over the phone. It didn't seem like the earlier problem with our bathroom had been communicated clearly to her.

Location-wise, this hotel is not near any amenities, restaurants or entertainment. There’s a 7-Eleven and MaxValue within walking distance for basic consumables. The main activity here is daytime bargain shopping, although don’t expect premium or branded items. The streets come alive as early as 6AM when the morning market bustles with activity. BY 6PM, the streets are deserted again and the area is cloaked in silence and inactivity. Public transportation is also a little scarce at night.

There are 2 swimming pools here though we only managed to check out the one outside the lobby. Situated on the 11th floor, the area offers a fantastic view of Bangkok and the breeze up there is lovely. The small pool, next to a bar, is pleasantly landscaped, and the deck chairs offer a relaxing lounge.

The hotel attracts a mixed pool of tourists although Asians (mainly from China) seem to be the bulk. Overall, the room is comfortable enough. Price-wise, it may be better to opt for newer hotels in a more strategic location if your objective is for shopping and sightseeing. For travelers who don’t expect a lot from a 3 stars ranked hotel, the stay should be decent enough.

Cons:
1. The bathroom pipes are too noisy for my liking - clanking away whenever guests in the next room turn on their taps or flush.
2. Bathtub is too narrow and doesn't look clean enough for soaking. Not ideal for old people to get in and out of either.
3. The shower head is positioned too low for a person of average height, and one has to stoop to stand directly beneath it to avoid the water from spraying out of the bathtub when the shower head is pushed up.
4. The narrow bathtub and position of the shower head easily causes the water to be splashed to the sides which then trickle down to the floor, hence wetting the floor.
5. No free wifi in the room.
6. Location not very convenient as its not near any major attractions aside from the daytime market and shopping.
