“Princes Palace Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

We managed to book this last minute and got a good price. Location is handy for Koh San Road and the main sites, It had a great view of bangkok from our window as we stayed on the 22nd floor.
The rooms were quite dirty and the overall hotel wasn't that great compared to the 4* rating it had. We only stayed 1 night to catch the sites and then moved to a better hotel

“Prince Palace Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

The Prince Palace Hotel, located about 10-15 min taxi ride east of Kao San Rd, Museums and Temples, and 10-15 west of the MBK center, is in a great location for those who want to see the sights but do not want to stay in the backpacker district or the overpriced business district.

We booked through expedia and payed about 90USD, for a very well equipped 4 star hotel this is great value. However please be aware that this base price comes with many hidden prices as mentioned in other reviews. It seems if you want anything extra, you are going to pay for it. Laundry for me and my girlfriend ended up being about 65USD, and the use of internet and the gym are all extra.

For some reason check-in is located at the lobby on the 11th Floor, and the staff is not too clear on this. So just take the elevator to the 11th and check-in. If you leave your bags with the bellboy in the lower lobby, dont expect them for about 20 min; unless you require assistance, I would just take them with you.

The room is everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel; excellent bed, furniture, tv with cable, robe, slippers, minibar, cold AC, and the best bathroom I have had yet in Bangkok.
The only complaint I had with the room is that the morning prayers from the Mosque located next to the hotel woke us up at sunrise each and every morning, even on the 24th floor. So if you are on that side of the hotel dont expect to sleep in.

The hotel restaurant is located on the 10th floor and prices are about the same as a nice restaurant in the US, but when you can pay a 10th of the price by walking out of the hotel and eating across the street the price seems absurd; I had a club sandwich for about 7.50USD. The food we had was just average and nothing to write home about. So, If you are looking for western food, I would suggest leaving the hotel and eating at any number of western chain restarants such as Outback Stakehouse etc, for the same or less amount of money.

The staff was adequate. They were friendly and helped with everything we needed, I didnt have any problems with them as described in some of the other reviews I have read. But I can say that this is a huge hotel and you definitely feel like you are one of hundreds of guests and are almost treated like a number instead of a guest. There is a concierge at the ground floor lobby who can help with minor questions about travel and flights etc, however I would not book any travel through the hotel, as you can find travel arrangements much cheaper through the hundreds of other travel agencies in Bangkok.

There is always somthing going on at the hotel's many banquet halls, bars and outdoor pool on the 10th floor. The night we arrived there was some outrageous western themed party and there were plenty of drunken thai cowboys and cowgirls running around through the lobby.

I would reccomend this hotel for the value alone, but I would suggest families and couples looking for luxury and a good location to stay here especially. This is an excellend choice for those who are spending several days in Bangkok, want to see the sights, and come home to all the luxuries they expect in a hotel.

“Torn between positive and negative”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

For the amount we paid we had a fantstic stay, nice room and for the medium price level(about 20% below the normal pricelevel) a luxurious feel of the place. It is a pity that the management does not seem to understand the complaints uttered in many reviews. We were lucky though. We had almost all of the cons but in a mild way i.e. Mould in the batroom, torn wallpaper, minor cleanliness problems but in all it was ok for the pricelevel. If you are unlucky you might possibly run into an unpleasant room. We would prpbably take the risk at the next occasion.

Beware of ridiculuos charges like 100 Baht for 15 minutes wifi or 1200 baht for 1 hour thai massage. Sauna and fitness not inclusive. 300 baht/day/person

Room Tip: Check in timely giving you the opportunity to ask for a roomchange if the room given to you is not u...

“Nice room...but that's all”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

The room was very large, nice and clean. All the usual comforts were there with bottles of water provided daily. We had buffet breakfast included which was nice (but not worth 300 thb) Unfortunately those were the only positives.
The staff were extremely unhelpful and looked endlessly for ways to make additional money (extremely high internet rates, harrassing you to take their taxi, the tourist information barely spoke English and despite asking for info on local buses he continuously repeated 'private transport' and attempted to coerce us into tour trips. We had a particularly unpleasant experience with the receptionist and Manager after a mistake with our booking days. We were phoned at 10pm and asked why we hadn't checked out that day. When we went downstairs to speak to them about the mix-up they demanded we pay for an extra night at full cost (we had booked with a discount voucher) or that we pack our bags and leave now. I attempted to resolve and negotiate (especially asking why we were not informed until 10pm at night) but they refused to answer our questions, became aggressive and told me to be quiet. The manager told my husband to 'make her be quiet' then walked away. He refused to let us see our booking sheet. I would not stay here again.

“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

The hotel is vast and features huge marble clad hallways and massive function suites that would make for a stunning wedding.
Pool area and bar/grill is great (11th floor so good views too) a tad pricey but all hotels are the same. Staff were pretty friendly, we booked a tour via reception and were NOT ripped off, had an amazing tour of the temples to the north.
Rooms were good, no complaints, breakfast also good, nice mix of western and asian. Had dinner here a few times too, very nice authentic Thai cuisine.
I am a return guest and will do so again, for what you pay the value for money is exceptional. It is as good as it looks on their website.
