I'm still a regular at Emporium Suites as I have been staying there now regularly since 2005 and I still give it two thumbs way up.
One must remember that it is a serviced apartment building and not a hotel in the sense of a hotel. I stayed at the Four Seasons for years before moving to Emporium Suites. I've also stayed at the Pen and the Oriental and a lists of other hotels since 1998.
If one wants 5-star type of hotel service, then one needs to be in a 5-star hotel There needs to be some patience and flexibility when it comes to serviced apartment buildings.
There are regular long term residents who live in the building. I met one in dance class who's lived there with her husband for three years.
I have seen kids in the restaurant for breakfast, in their school uniforms, and having breakfast with their nannies, businessmen rushing around and getting a quick bite to eat and then rushing off to work, and long term residents having a leisurely breakfast.
What one does get in serviced apartment buildings is a lot more space. My studio apartment at Emporium Suites is 80 square meters whereas my room at my beloved Four Seasons was 40 square meters. And I love the rhythm of serviced apartment buildings. It's calmer than that of hotels.
Also the location and convenience of Emporium Suites is great as it's attached to the Emporium Mall which has a beautiful supermarket and massive food court on the top level, a pharmacy, internet cafe, a movie theater, restaurants, stores, and many other services. And the mall is attached to the Prom Phong Skytrain station. There's also a Bangkok Bank across the lobby from Emporium Suites. So, for me it couldn't be more convenient and I don't plan moving anytime soon.
