“So So ...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

It was cheap but also awkward and somewhat dissatisfying. The hotel I usually stay at in Silom (BKK) was under renovation and, somewhat ironically, they jacked up their room rates for the event. So this time I decided to check out something new: La Residence offers small rooms with big bathrooms and a small computer with internet access in the lobby. The rooms look, however, as if they have been unchanged since the 1970s, and the staff doesn't speak English (apart from one, someone nice lady with attitude who seems to take pride in her skills but overdoes it often and thus comes across unnecessarily rough).
The breakfast took place in an older, semi-classy room facing the main road. Even though they always asked what I wanted for breakfast, I always thought that they only had the items they eventually brought me. So the choices are limited to eggs, toast, a little jam and butter, (weird) juice and coffee.
To add to the awkwardness, you have to ring the bell at night to get in The worst was that the staff doesn't have a feeling for what guests will do next. They were often cleaning when I came back from breakfast. Then they apologized profusely but often wanted to finish a portion of their job. So I was standing in 'my' own hotel room, waiting to use the bathroom after breakfast (when you need to use it most). And Ileft the hotel every day for many hours ...
Little things drove me crazy: To watch T.V. from bed, you had to move it closer and put the phone behind it. Every day, the staff rearranged the rearrangement, so every time you wanted to watch a little T.V., you had to move the phone, etc. again.
I was a steal at 28 bucks but not again ...

I was very happy to stay in this hotel. Received a warm welcome on arrival; the lady (owner) was waiting outside already for the taxi to arrive. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful. The room was good and clean, although not as big as the double rooms I was used to. I had a single room and everything I needed was there. Breakfast was also nice. Really very good value for the price. I hope to return on my next trip to Bangkok

Small hotel on great location, in the heart of Bangkog. Very clean, staff is friendly, and although it's located on some of the main streets of Bangkog it's very quiet. Hope to visit again some day, and I recommend this hotel to everyone who wish to be in the center of this impulsive town.

Definetely a hotel to recommend!! Being my first time in Thailand I was a bit unsure about the place to stay but finally I decided to book here a room because of the good rates and the good rating. And the accomodation turned out to be really good, I mean, you cannot expect a Sofitel standard paying Ryanair fares, but taking into account the price it is quite good, and the air-conditioning even better!

The location is fabulous, just 300 meters of Chong Nonsi skytrain station (just 130 Bht the day pass!), which allows you to arrive directly from the airport with the (truely efficient) public transport as well as to travel to the main city sights in a fast and cheap way. An it is an area much more organised and clean than the typical other traveller quarters.

Poor points? Well, the so-called included breakfast actually consists basically of a cup of coffee or tea, and the room smelled a bit strange at the beginning, furthermore I had some insects on my bed the first night, but this was solved rapidly the following morning.

The lady at the reception as well as the night auditor during the evening are always looking forward to help you, they even stored some little luggage for my I will pick up in a couple of days when returning to BKK.

The location is OK and it's about 10 minutes walk to the nearesr BTS station.
The staff is kindly and the service is really good.
Although it is not very large, it is very comfortable and the stay is worthy of value.

this place is well located, very clean and super friendly. The breakfast was lovely, wifi worked fine and the minibar is inexpensive. They didn't seem to mind me coming and going at odd hours. I'm sad to check out today.

La Residence Bangkok is a good, plain, inexpensive hotel. It's close to the city centre, insofar as there is one in Bangkok, and offers few frills other than free, secure, wifi connections. It does provide all that's needed, however. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the beds comfortable and the mini-bar more than adequate. The owner/manager speaks excellent, colloquial, self-taught English. No buffet is provided at breakfast, but orders are taken on arrival in the dining room, and everything is cooked and served (quickly) fresh to order. This is not an exciting or glitzy hotel, but it provided everything that I wanted in an area that gives access to extensive shopping, as well as having good to excellent public transport connections.
