I with couple of my freinds stayed here for 3nights this april.
The only thing positive about this hotel is its location which is close to their metro and is very close to sukhumvit road.
The service is ok with nothing exceptional about it. Their rooms is like stayiong in a 50 yr old attic(base catagory rooms). The superior catagory is only marginally better sin ce i shifted the next day out of their base catagory room. The bathrooms were leaky in all the 3 rooms we took...all in all the rooms gave a very unhygnic feel...i requested for a spoon from room service and was charged 30 baht for it.
The window glass in rooms are dirty, the beds creaks..the carpet on the room floor carry a smell atleast 3 decades old..

their bar is ok but the food at their cofee shop is again, their are better choices available near by..

Their coceirge although provided me with an exceptional service..

This is located slap bang in the middle of Sukumvith. Good location, next to major road and the expressway. 35 mins from airport and reasonably central in terms of BK. hotel is large with reasonable sized rooms- very very dated rooms, some musty smells, and generally needs renovating. i only stay there overnight or 2 nights max. any longer would choose better quality hotel.for short stays its fine, especially given the price £18pn or abt £23 for tower wing. breakfast is adequate.

When my friends decided to stay at the Ambassador, I decided to do a quick check on the hotel online. After reading the somewhat lukewarm reviews on TripAdvisor and despite my misgivings, I checked in and honestly, I wished I did push harder for my choice of hotels, instead.

To be fair, this is indeed a budget hotel so there's no frills whatsoever. I would place it in the leagues of a 1 star. 2 star, at most. It is severe need of an upgrade. We stayed on the 3rd floor. Note: The corridors leading to the rooms are very dark and makes it feel extremely unsafe.

The rooms are dingy. Upon entering my room, I was greeted by baby cockroaches scuttling across my path. The linen on the beds are old and are now grimy off-white colour. The carpets are worn, threadbare and stained.

But it is the toilets that are the worst. The once-white bathtub is now fully yellow with water stains throughout. The shower curtain is mouldy. The taps (and anything else made of metal) were rusting. Our toilet did not flush and maintenance was slow in responding. There was bits of scum in the corners as well.

Lighting also appeared to be a problem with the room. Lightbulbs were either busted or dim which made the room seem even more so dismal.

We promptly checked out the next day and while at the checkout desk, heard other guest complaining about their rooms.

I honestly wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you're on a severe budget and even then, I still wouldn't recommend it. We checked into the Somerset (which is managed under The Ascott group) and got a beautiful fully-appointed suite for 4 pax for slightly more than 4000baht, buffet breakfast inclusive.

For the ladies, if you're on your own without any males around, please do yourself a favour and check into another hotel. It's just for safety sakes. The dark corners and corridors (with not a single guard around) does not make this a safe option.

Stayed 2 nights in April 2007. Hotel is huge. Has a tower and a low rise building conected by the lobby and some type of a mall (tailor shops, disco, bars, restaurants, jewelry stores even has some type of bird sanctuary all on the premisses). I stayed in the tower paid about $60 night including breakfast (booked through a local thai travel agency). My room was on a high floor and had a nice view although it seemed like the window washers had not been around in a few months. Room and bath were very, very worn but clean. I did eat a few meals at the hotel. I found to be a bit expensive for Thailand but was not bad tasting. They do have live music at night wich is a bit loud and could be heard on some of the floors. This place could easly become a 5 star Hotel if the rooms where updated. Overall not a
bad place to stay. Close to Sky train.

The Ambassador is a unremarkable seventies-era hotel, clean and adequately maintained but showing its age. It is located close to subway and skyrail stations, and there are lots of good Indian restaurants in the nieghborhood.

I spent five nights here, three in a more expensive room on the 22nd floor, and two in a somewhat cheaper room two floors down (both in the tower section.) The only apparent difference between the rooms was that the cheaper room had no coffee-making facilities, and a slightly weaker (though still functional) wireless internet signal. The more expensive room also allowed me to eat my breakfast at the top floor restaurant, quieter and with better views that the larger downstairs eatery, but with a more limited food selection.

Both rooms were clean and comfortable, and everything was in working order. But the rooms were a bit frayed around the edges: rust spots on the sides of the bathtub, grouting that had been replaced many times over, and carpeting and furniture that had seen better days.

I can't say that I would rush to come back to this hotel, but I woudn't avoid it either.
