“Not fantabulous but not that horrible”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2011

I went to Bangkok with my friend for shopping and some other leisure last June 2011. Well, the city is not so different from Manila - alot of shopping places, very busy streets and alot of food. Literally, everyone is selling everywhere. Selling is everyone's business in BKK. Price range is pretty much the same in Manila - well, everything probably cheaper in Bangkok by 10%.

With regard Baiyoke Suite, the major PLUS point is the the location. Once you step out of the building, you would know right at once that you are right in the heart of the shopping locale. HINT: you won't get the cheapest items in the stalls near Baiyoke Suite neither is it the high-end district. What you get to shop here would be cheap clothes and accessories you can bargain but at mid-range prices. We learned on our 2nd to 3rd day that there's alot more places to go where everything his even cheaper - as in half or 2/3 the price we got from the stores near the hotel. Nevertheless, it's still nice to be located there due to ease of access to everything.

Some of those "better" places (on top of my head) would be Chatuchak and MBK Mall. I got cheap original perfumes in MBK but everything else is in Chatuchak. It's just one hell of a shopping place, and I loved it!!!

I'll post some pictures of the hotel itself. Judge for yourself. Here are a few bullet reminders for you guys:

> Do not try the hotel buffet lunch and dinner food. It sucks. The only reason we ate dinner at the Baiyoke Lounge was because it rained pretty hard and we were trapped in the hotel without any food.
> Breakfast food is so-so but if you can get a cheaper package not including buffet breakfast, GET THAT!
> The bathroom is not that clean. Well, it's clean (I guess) but you really can't tell. Tiles are old and lights are gloomy.
> Room carpet is kinda dirty too. This one I can tell.
> The AC is weird and noisy. It's the old type of ACs they have in the rooms and the sound may be irritating at night.
>Wi-fi service is pretty expensive at 200-300 baht an hour.

The best part about Baiyoke is the price. We got a suite bedroom for 3 nights for only 5,000 baht. You do the math on how cheap that could get.

Great location in Bangkok. Easy access for shopping and public transport, especially getting train to airport. Suites have been done up since our last stay and were much nicer. Lots of room. Breakfast at the top of Hotel has great views and terrrific spread, dinner also a good feed. Pool can get crowded especially school holidays and the gym has lousy opening hours - something like 11am to 7pm and the guy running it is the scariest Thai I've ever seen. Makes you feel like you are intruding on his personal space! Worst thing about this place is the cost of laundry. They charge by the piece and don't tell you that. Everywhere else we went they charged by weight and it was most affordable. This place charged $1 for undies and $8 for shorts! I could have bought new ones in the markets for what they charged! Do not get washing done here. We booked through the internet for 3 adults and 2 children and they assumed the 2 children would sleep with the adults and when we requested another bed for one we were charged through the nose as we "had a special internet " price. Be precise with your booking. Book for an adult, despite age, if you want a bed.

It was surprisingly amazed when we entered the room although the room was big but so so dirty and nasty, the smell was so bad we and couldn't even stayed for a whole day. The staff are arrogant they don't know how to be polite to their guest. The internet was quite expensive... Only thing was good the LOCATION can access everywhere... Never back this hotel again

Reception staff were uncooperative, rude, argumentative & uninformed. The concierge in the restaurant upstairs actually GLARES at you when you walk past him. I have never encountered staff like this anywhere in the world, maybe you might get the odd disagreeable staff member but this place is overflowing with them. Rooms are big and spacious but dirty and old fashioned. Cockroaches crawling over the bread basket in the restaurant at breakfast . . . I could even cope with these things but the rude arrogant staff I won't stand for. Never again!

This hotel is situated near the Pratunam Market (wholesale market for clothes) & Platinum Mall (more clothes). My family booked 2 rooms for 5 people (3 + 2) for less than 100 USD each night. For this price, we did not expect much. The hotel is rather old but big (living area + bedroom). Nonetheless we loved the location and would go back again!

The ac needed regular maintenance in every 2 days in 4 days of our stay. The geyser was not working. The water pressure in the taps was quite slow. Breakfast on the 43rd floor sounded attractive but in reality the room needs renovation instead of ugly paint job. We had booked online and were made to wait till 6 pm for check-in. In the noon hours one really had to wait for the lift as housekeeping is done between 12-4 pm. Overall. it was blowing our money.

The location appears to be very central, but it is located in an extremely crowded area. The approach of the hotel gives you a feel as one has planned to live in low budget road side guest house.

Stayed for 4 days in June 2011 with my family. Rating should be in negative. Not worth staying even if money paid to you for staying there as one will spoil the whole trip. 30 years old AC - not working at all. Filthy rooms and toilets. Very old furniture. Geyser not working. Non-cooperative and adament staff. Located in small dirty lane. Guests should sue the hotel for spoiling the trip. It is no way a 3 star category. NEVER EVER RECOMMEND IN MY LIFE TO ANYONE.

Room Tip: Never ever think of staying in this hotel.
