“Top notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

My two daughters and myself stayed at the Shangri La Bangkok for 2 nights. We came in the afternoon from Singapore and used hotel limo to get there. That was a first touch with excellent service this hotel gives to their guests, very smooth and organized. Once we reached this beautiful hotel we were just taken directly to our room guided with very nice hostess. She introduced us with all important information what we need to know to feel homey. Everything there was top notch. We had dinner 2 nights (in Italian and international restaurants - want to go to Thai but was fully booked both nights). Food was incredible. Breakfast at patio beside river was very good. Hotel boat shuttle to night market was perfect. Very convenient. We want to go to experience floating markets out of city and asked concierge to help us. He found taxi and arranged everything we requested. So whatever you ask for or need was helped with big smile on the face. Such a nice staff and people. Pool area is amazing! Location as well.We left hotel happy and satisfied heading to our next destination Krabi! :)

I cannot express how wonderful this hotel was. We were always greeted with kindness from the hotel staff. The food was incredible, breakfast divine! My husband could not get enough ham!! The shuttle service at night was great.Fresh fruit in our room nightly was an added bonus. After staying here went to another city, and missed this hotel!

Booked this hotel for my then G/f & myself as a treat, on booking in at reception they asked me for a joining fee for my G/f as if she was a hooker! I expressed my absolute disgust at reception & the room in my wing had extensive renovation going on, so after a 12 hour flight from the UK I had to listen to sounds of construction for hours on end

Nice lobby, nice gym, good location, very expensive, abusive staff

Everytime I go to bangkok, I stay at this hotel. Starting by the location and finishing on the service, it's worth every penny. It's unforgetable! It is so so good that I can't say mora than this. Visit the hotel and have a wonderful stay. Still has the best breakfast ever, and the gym was all renewed. 5 stars!

Room Tip: Choose Krungthep wing. Service and private facilites included. :)

We stayed at the Shangri La Bangkok at the end of a long trip through the far east to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

We arrived at the Shangri-La quite late after our flight from Vietnam. To get to the hotel we got the sky train in to the city to Phaya Thai station, you could have got on the sky train from here then to Saphan Taksin station next to the hotel. As it was quite late though and we didn't know where we were going we just jumped in a taxi and it cost us about £5 I think to get to the hotel.

We were soon checked in and shown to our amazing room on the 16th floor which had incredible views over the city, it also had a lovely window seat so you could just relax there and enjoy the view. We were flying home very late the next day so we unfortunately didn't have too long to enjoy the hotel.

We checked out the next morning but the hotel were very accomodating in storing our bags for us whilst we spent our last day sightseeing and shopping in Bangkok. We came back to the hotel after a long humid day in Bangkok and the hotel were able to let us use the health club facilities so we could shower and change before we went out for dinner. We then left our bags at the hotel again so we could go for dinner and return to the hotel later for our flight home. The hotel staff were very good to keep going and getting our bags for us so we could pack our shopping and change our clothes....I think they thought we were never going to leave, I wish we didn't have to!

Breakfast at the hotel was very busy and noisy, we arrived about 20 mins before it was due to close and the staff were very quick to tell us that it would be closing soon and we must choose all we wanted before it closed at 10am promptly!

We didn't use the pool but it did look very nice next to the river, although the sunbeds looked quite full even by 10am, we weren't in Bangkok for sun bathing though.

The hotel is in a fab location right in the heart of the city and right next to the main sky train station Saphan Taksin.

We stayed at the Anantara Riverside Spa in Bangkok at the start of our holiday and whilst this was nice (see my other review) I wish we had booked the Shangri La for that stay as well, even if it was a bit more expensive.

Nestled on an inside street in Bangkok, this hotel is offers excellent service and the kindest and most helpful staff to serve your needs.
Whatever you need, form the concierge desk to the bell staff, they will help no matter what!

Room Tip: Ask for a river view, you will not regret it.
