Although I am not an expert, I would say this place is genuinly Thai and not some international clone. I've been there twice within 6 years and it's great to see everything is in the same great shape than before - it means the people care. The staff is WONDERFUL - they'll offer the best service without you feeling harrassed ;o) - the food (breakfast and dinner buffet) is great. Other than the wonderful pool I have not tried the many other offerings, but everything seems perfect. It's not over the top though, so I didn't feel uncomfortable. Yes, I'd go there again anytime.

After reading lots of reviews for different accommodation in Bangkok we decided on Siam City. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made the right choice. Beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. There was an air of elegance with beautiful plush carpets and lovely incense burners placed along the corridors to our rooms. Good selection at breakfast. Lovely to walk back into the air conditioning after a hot day out. Special mention to "Vee" out the front who was always there to greet us as we left and welcomed us when we came back. He is a asset to Siam CIty with his extremely friendly and helpful personality.

Another special mention must go to our taxi driver who picked us up at the airport. I was well aware of some of the taxi driver's "tricks", so straight away said to him to make sure his meter was on, go straight to Siam City with no stops at tailors or jewellers on the way!
He laughed and delivered us straight to the accommodation, pointing out places of interest on the way. We struck up a really good rapport and arranged for him to pick us up a couple of days later to take us to the Floating Markets (2 hours out of Bangkok) and more or less have him for the whole day. His taxi is very spacious, clean and comfortable and he is a good driver (which relaxed me a bit). He did stop at a place which made palm sugar, which I didnt know about, but it was worth it and I am glad he stopped there. After the markets there were a couple of other places we wanted to go, which he didnt know of, so while we were floating down the canals, he made several phone calls and established where it was he had to take us. All very good service. We were so happy with him that we booked him to take us back to the airport when it was time to leave.

In short things I did in Bangkok:

Chatuchak markets - not worth it. See review I have done.
Patpong night markets - had good bartering there and got some bargains.
Grand Palace - must visit, very hard to get taxi from there back to your hotel, wont use meters.
Rice barge canal tour - must do and the tropical fruit is delicious. Mango best ever.
Floating markets - worth doing, a different experience

We had a two night stay here and I totally agree with the other comments, the staff were very helpful. Location couldn't be any better with the skytrain so near, a great spot for staying in Bangkok.

I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights. The staff could not have done more to help us. The typical cheerfulness and service culture of Thailand shone through. The rooms are clean, large and well maintained. We checked out at two (after a 2 hour extension for FREE) and then hung around the hotel until 9 when we needed to leave for the airport. The hotel let us use their facilities as if we were still guests the entire time. I will definately book here again.
