I extended my stay in Bangkok after attending a 3 days seminar there. I was looking for somewhere which has easy access to public transport, and was close to all the shopping areas, which does not cost an arm and a leg.
I was recommended to try Grand President Hotel, by one of my colleague who has recently been to Bangkok. I went thru some online reviews and found good guest rating about the hotel from the tripadvisor.com and few other website. I book via the hotel website 2 weeks earlier for a 3 night stay from 15 – 18 May, specifying clearly I needed a 2 single beds and a room with some view of the city skyline as I would love to take some photographs of the city.
Upon checking in, I was given a room in tower 3 which overlook directly into the district revenue office, where I could clearly see people working at their workstation. To add on to that, I was given a king size bed, when I requested for 2 single beds. I went back to the reception area, and the front desk personnel were more than happy to help me look for another room. They managed to spot on the 3rd floor, and this time feeling more confidence, I move my luggage back from the 6th floor into the 3rd floor. And to my disappointment again, this room too came with a king size bed. I decided to give up on rushing up and down between towers and settle for this room instead. Good thing this time is at least the room wasn’t facing an office.
Other then the room incident, everything else was great about the hotel, from the friendly and helpful front desk staff to the morning breakfast and their housekeeping services. Keep up the good job folks. I would certainly consider staying at the grand president again, on my next trip.
To the hotel management would like to suggest the following :
1. A quick email response on booking / queries made via the hotel website is pretty critical. I was left wondering if my booking had actually gone thru, or not.
2. Possible in the future to incorporate wifi services at guest rooms.
To visitors / travelers:
1. Great location (lots of local food to try), 3 mins walk to nana bts station.
2. Easy access from the airport / highway
3. Entertainment outlets (bars / disco's) just few steps away. Check out Bed & Qbar.
4. Clean and reasonably priced service apartment, if you plan to spend most of your time traveling or shopping or sight seeing.
5. Taxi's outside the hotel, may not use the meter, but offer you a flat rate. If you are in a hurry, try to negotiate a better rate. Some taxi drivers tell you yes they have meter, but once you get it they don’t switch it on. Maybe what they are saying is yes their taxi's do come installed with meters, but they choose not to use it.. (haha)
Thanks & have a good holiday :-)
