The Conrad Hotel in Bangkok is a wonderful place to stay for business or vacation travel. It is located in a very nice part of the city; enjoys easy access to the Sky Train; offers a great gym and an idyllic pool that is wonderful for lap swimming as well as “lazing around”; provides first class business services; and serves an excellent breakfast buffet. The hotel adjoins a very nice mall that offers a full range of quality restaurants, shops, cafes and even a very well-supplied supermarket. In short, you can’t beat the place for convenience, amenities and quality of service.

But what really distinguishes the Conrad is the way they make you feel.

For starters, and despite the fact I am definitely not a VIP, I was never treated as “just a guest”. In fact, every time I arrived at the hotel or came down to the lobby, I was greeted by name. Not just by staff with whom I had worked, but by other staff whom I hadn’t even met.

In addition, each time I made a request – of the front desk, the concierge, the restaurant, security, the bellhops – the staff person went out of his or her way to take care of my needs. I was never disappointed. Several staff were repeatedly helpful , including Joy, Aum and Awako at the front desk; Tippie, Ya, Nunok and Jack at the concierge; Nan and May in the restaurant; Gai and Mee in security; and Toi in housekeeping. It was a stellar crew of folks and I relied on each of them throughout my ten day stay.

Indeed, by the time my business trip was completed, I wasn’t sure I wanted to leave. I have never been so well treated by a hotel or a hotel staff. I recommend this hotel without reservation and eagerly look forward to my next stay.

Was in Bangkok for 4 nights in November, and decided to try Conrad for a change.

The hotel overall was very good, I stayed in a one-bedroom suite, and the air-con was already on along with fruits and chocolate when I got into my room. The room I stayed at has a coffee machine available, as well as fresh milk (free of charge) in the fridge. What a nice little touch!

The breakfast on the club lounge was better than expected, and it's one of the few hotels that have a good selection of food in the club lounge.

The downside of the hotel is I had booked a meeting room to use for 2 hours, and when we got there the staff didn't even show us which meeting room was reserved for us, and I had to ask them for directions. This is defeinitely not acceptable at all, especially when on the club level!

The bar in the hotel was very good, the service is usual at its top notch. But given the state of the economy worldwide and the political situation in Thailand, it was quite dead the 2 nights we were there.

A definite recommendation for the business travelers!

We stayed for 3 nights with our 3 kids (9, 6 and 2) in a 2-bedroom suite that comes with a living room and kitchen. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. Hotel staff were polite and attentive. There was some confusion were our e-reservation in the number of persons per room but that was sorted out quickly and the duty manager even made a trip to our room to clarify and apologise.

The Conrad Residences is in a separate building that was connected to the main hotel. Breakfast was served in the main hotel. All facilities were shared between Conrad Hotel and Residences.

There is a free shuttle service to the nearest BTS train station at Phloen Chit but we took taxi all the time since it was difficult travelling with 3 kids. Make sure taxis run on meters as some drivers try to negotiate for a higher fixed fare.

On the whole, Conrad was a wonderful stay and I would strongly recommend to others.

We all know that nothing's perfect so, let's see, I saw a stray gum wrapper on the elevator one time over the course of 6 days. Honestly, this is such a nice place. if you want a relaxing hotel in this chaotic city, stay here. And book an executive room - you'll get a pretty amazing breakfast and evening wine and beer (and appetizers) in the executive lounge.

To be upfront, I am a Hilton Honors member and have executive level benefits.

That being said, this was an outstanding hotel. I was a little concerned as it isn't on the river, but that wasn't a huge problem. As others said, they are quite close to the Sky Train, which is easy to use and gets you around faster than a taxi in most instances.

I had some clothing made while in Bangkok and was expecting the tailor to deliver in the afternoon of my departure day. They had not dropped off my clothing when they were supposed to. The concierge desk was very helpful in calling the shop and tracking down my items. Unfortunately there was a problem with an item and again, the conceriege helped me get the issues sorted out.

The room I had was lovely, even if the view was not as nice as at the Millenium Hilton on the river.

The gym facilities are very nice as are the locker rooms.

The staff on the executive level were phenomenal as well. They helped me book an afternoon bike tour just outside the city, and asked me that evening how I enjoyed it, so they could add it to the list of activities to recommend to other guests.

This is a very sophisticated hotel, not a lot of flash, but tasteful and calming.

Just a bit about the bike tour. The company I used was Spice Roads. I found them in an article on the Bangkok Air inflight magazine. The tour I took was Bangkok Jungle. It was interesting, although the scariest thing I did during this trip was to ride a bike on Bangkok city streets. You're only on the city streets for a few minutes before making your way to the river and a boat that takes you across to a residental/undeveloped (in terms of high rises and traffic) area. The website says you ride on minor roads, pathways and alleys. What you really do most of the time is ride on a cement platform about 4 feet wide that sits above the landscape - sometimes water, sometimes "jungle". It wasn't bad, but wasn't accurately represented. Some of the platforms had railings on one side, some didn't. I've attached a picture.
