My partner and I stayed at the Banyan Tree from the 8th October for 3 nights. Being a travel agent I am very fussy when it comes to hotel and like things to be executed 'just so' and I have to say I was blown away by the Banyan Tree.
The hotel is not the newest but is lovingly maintained and I got the impression that the staff are all justifyably pleased of their establishment.
Our Club Suite was on the 55th Floor with great views over the river. It was well furnished to a high standard and had every neccessary facility and then some more thrown in for show! The hotel also provided a body scrub on arrival which was a nice touch.
During our stay we had a problem with the in room safe which was fixed immediately. We thought that was the end of it but on our return from a day of sightseeing a bottle of wine was in our room with an appology from the manager - totally unsolicited and a great demonstration of the personal service they provide.
The Club Lounge was very pleasant with complimentary drinks and snacks. It was a great place from which to watch the thunderstorms!
We used the temporary spa on the 39th floor (they are renovating the main spa facility) and the treatment was well priced and good value compared to what I had expected to find in a 5* establishment.
The restaurants were all good. The two on the top floors (pier 59 and vertigo) don't really justify the money when you can eat in one of the other lower floor restaurants at the Banyan for a fraction of the price. The food was good throughout the hotel.
All in all I would not hesitate to stay at the Banyan if I ever come to Bangkok again. I would reccommend taking advantage of the 3rd night free offer through most UK tour Operators when staying in Club Suite. It means you can have three nights in a Club Suite for a fraction more on the regular suite price and a host of benefits make it very good value for money.
I hope you stay there and enjoy!
