Despite this hotel being really busy when we stayed. (A Colombian drugs cartel were having their AGM) a more tranquil and relaxing time would be difficult to imagine. A half hour or so from the airport, right in the centre of Bangkok, we were whisked onto the driveway and ushered towards check-in. A cooling glass of cordial in hand, a painless swipe of the plastic and we were shown to our 'river view room'. On a non smoking floor (nice touch, no smelly corridor) our basic room is huge, clean and well equipped with a separate bathroom and gigantic, comfortable bed.
Perhaps 'apartment view' might be a more appropriate term if I was being picky but the river was there too if you squinted a bit!
Buffet breakfast included for this trip, taken in the excellent ground floor restaurant. Very busy with all the Columbians but a seat by the window near the fish pond was usually available. Coffee freely available on tap, and breakfast from the four corners of the world too!
Being a city centre hotel the outdoor pool is on the 29th floor! And it's beautiful. Not large, (20 meters? ish.) but despite the Columbians never too busy whilst we were there. Really cool and refreshing and a great place to hang out whilst the other half has a spa treatment or two. Apparently the spa is pretty good too!
The staff are so warm and helpful, always there to advise and summon a taxi or organise a trip or outing. We had three days here and were almost sorry to leave for the rest of our holiday.
(The Columbians sadly turned out to be a Mexican I.T. company by the way!)
