“Great for gay couples too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

This was our first experience in asia. As soon as we got there a guy took our luggage and another person took us to the club lounge where a very friendly recepcionist organised our check in while we were drinking an iced fruity tea. Very politely he asked if we wanted a double or two single beds, no problems there.
We had in mind to visit the north of the country but our staying in this hotel was so amazing that we changed our plans and stayed there fir the whole week.
It was full of other gay couples and the best, it was just 15 min walk from the best gay area ( bars, restaurants and shops) in Bangkok called Sala Daeng or Silom street.

Room Tip: Get the club type room!!

We came to the Banyan Tree (Bangkok) as the concluding part of our honeymoon, after spending 8 days in Krabi. We were after a gentle introduction back into city life, prior to returning back to London. What we got was simply incredible. By prior arrangement, we had a car booked. As soon as we cleared customs, the Banyan Tree representative was there waiting for us, grabbing our luggage, and leading us to our chauffeured car. The driver provided many useful tips for getting around Bangkok, where must be seen with the limited time we had, great places for drinks, etc. When we got to the hotel we were greated by Akiko, who introduced us to the hotel, the facilities, and took care of everything (seriously ask for her). The room was incredible, 31st floor on the Club floor with awesome views over Bangkok. We were able to use the Club Lounge throughout our stay, which is well worthwhile if it's available to you. The service, snack food (and breakfast) and drinks were all to a very high standard. The first night we ate at the Saffron Restaurant (52nd Floor), which was truly delightful. We had great views of the city, accompanied by a wonderful meal and wine, which really made our evening. We had a really early start the next day as we were heading to the Tiger Temple near Kanchanaburi, and had asked Akiko if she could organise breakfast boxes for us to take. By the time we came down at 04:30 in the morning, everything was ready and waiting for us. The relief staff had been fully briefed, and we were on our way in seconds. The customer service and attention to detail at the Banyan Tree is second to none. The gym facilities whilst not the largest, are well catered, with modern machines. So I took the opportunity to go for a run after we returned, whilst my wife rested. We were able to enjoy High-Tea in the lobby area later in the afternoon, before what was possibly the best massage treatment either of us has experienced. It was simply incredible. The room, the staff, the treatment were great, even down to the pot of tea along with fruits that was waiting for us when we were taken back upstairs to the Spa Lounge. We enjoyed our evening meal at Vertigo (the open air restaurant on top of the Banyan Tree), with more stunning views of Bangkok. The food was incredible (again) as were the cocktails from the Moon Bar. We opted for a four course set menu with paired wines. On our final morning before flying back we checked out, and had breakfast from the breakfast buffet in the Club Lounge, which was (as others have said) extensive. We had booked a car back to the airport, and by the time we got downstairs, our bags were already in the back of the car and we were on our way, sadly enough at the airport in 30 minutes. The Banyan Tree was the ultimate way to end our honeymoon in Thailand. Prior to coming to Thailand on honeymoon, I maybe would have questioned spending so much, but considering everything that was included, or available, the level of service, when we go back there is no way that we will stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: If possible book a package deal - we booked in the City Retreat Package One-Bedroom Suite facing th...

I was here to spend the last few days of my honeymoon in Feb 2012. Having come from the sun and sand of Pattaya, this hotel seemed a lot more closed up and claustrophobic. Don't let that fool you though. The rooms are well equipped and cozy. I was up on the 52nd floor and the view was to die for. It is also conveniently located close to all the night shopping you need to do and not too far from the major malls and other tourist attractions.
From the smooth check-in to the extensive range of the breakfast buffet, The Banyan Tree proved to be quite a pleasant experience. I did not get a chance to try out their roof top restaurant "Vertigo" but I guess I'll do that the next time.

Banyan Tree was a hotel I'd used previously (5-6 years ago) but stopped using it because dispite the excellent facilities and staff, the rooms were out dated and lacked modern appliances etc.
I returned last week and was delighted at what I saw.
Although smaller 5* Hotel are fashionable these days they simply cannot provide that of Hotels with the infastructure of the Banyan Tree. During my visit they didn't faulter one bit.
Room was fantastic, Roof Top bar and Outlets one of a kind and Club Lounge best I've been to (but it always way). The Hotel is well away from the Strip (Nana - Asoke) but that's favorable and if you know the area (ask the Front office staff) there are dozens of great eating places around and a short walk to the BTS.
Next time in BKK it's back to the Banyan Tree for me.
The only comment I can add (and not a complaint) is that the Club Lounge (despite it's First Class Service and Privileges) has become very busy and alows children access. Personally I don't want someone's child fingering the food during canapes and screeming around my feet. This clearly is an issue of parenting, not the hotels fault.

Room Tip: Go for Club

Good location, just a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of Silom, and the breakfast hawkers along Soi Convent. Unassuming entrance-way, and the side-entrance via the office block is a bit dark after office hours. Very elegant lobby, and very helpful staff.

Ask for rooms facing Silom, as the 'city view' at the back directly faces a residential complex.

The pool is a bit small, but the unobstructed view of Bangkok makes up for it. The lower open air bar at the building's 'opening' in the mid-level is very quaint, and a lovely spot for drinkies, with good views of downtown.

Vertigo, on the top floor, the converted helipad, is fantastic! As the name suggests, avoid if you have a fear of heights, as the bar width can feel very narrow for some. However, it feels far more approachable and less pretentious than Sirocco at State Tower.

Good location for public transport, 15 minute walk away from Silom and Lumphini Metro and Sala Daeng BTS stations.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Silom Road has a nice view of downtown; the opposite side faces a residential tower.

even the hotel is quite in distancefrom shopping area, but we can took taxi to go to the shopping area and another place that we want to . still need to bargainm if the taxi dunt want to use the meter charge. but overall every taxi that we called from the hotel was using meter. so not to worry.

the staff was nice, service very good, they clean up our room twice a day and somemore gave us some small souvenir. i got the elephant keychain.

the minus only the pool that i think so small, because many of the guest using the swimming pool very often.
