If you want to spend a weekend or an holidays in BKK and you need a magic place by yourself, with your friend or with your lover, this is the right place to go.
Everything is simply magic. Staff is so professional and so friendly.
Breakfast is amazing, room are very well equipped, nice swimming pool etc etc.
but what makes this place unique is for sure what the staff is going to do to make your staying unforgettable. strongly recommended.

Great location (near Patpong if fake handbags and ping pong balls are your thing and 10 mins from river) but really it's the effortless way it manages to be a tourist and business hotel without having to make everything the same as a Hilton or a Sheraton - I loved it and the staff were fantastic - take note those places that want to be a 5* hotel

We used Bangkok as a base for our most recent trip and stayed at 3 different hotels (with Phuket and Shanghai in between). Hotel Muse, Sukhothai and St Regis.
Sukhothai was the Bangkok hotel we returned to after out Phuket stay. We really wanted to stay here after visiting 5 years ago. Unfortunately the night market we were looking forward to visiting was gone and there wasn’t a whole lot right outside the door at this hotel.
Time has marched on. The driveway on the right is grand. On the left is tired.
This hotel has a refined and time worn feel. The lobby is quiet and gets the job done. The pool has a little bit of a resort feel. My Luxe Guide described the pool as ‘scene-y’ and it was on the Friday – but family friendly and quiet on the other 3 days.
The room was gigantic; we had been upgraded to a suite (thank you Sukhothai). It was great that the bathroom had 2 sinks, 2 places for luggage and there was also a powder room. This room made us feel at home and the hotel really grew on us over the 4 days we were there.
We did not eat at the breakfast room (although our friends did and they said the clientele was stuffy and rude and it made them wish they had their children with them for some atmosphere and light heartedness). We did eat at Celadon and we did like the food –and the traditional dancers.
We did something we rarely do on holidays – had room service. Partly due to the suite being so large it seemed to invite you to stay in. We had a lovely dinner room service one night and I had a room service lunch while my husband was at a meeting. It was great on both occasions.
We also had dinner at Nahm at the Metropolitan one night – I’d recommend making the short work to the Met Bar if you want modern and interesting cocktails. We had great cocktails there – not so much at the Sukhothai cocktail bar. I get the impression at the Sukhothai bar it is just there because the hotel has to have one.
Unsure if we will be back before they have had a refurb/refresh – but we did enjoy our stay.

I was unable to find a separate review page for dining at this hotel. Something TA should look at.

I am to be truthful quite baffled.
We went for the;
" A chocoholic’s dream - The Sukhothai’s famed Chocolate Buffet"

What we got was somewhat very different.Service may I say straight off excellent and the hotel a delight.

Afternoon tea was always the invention and preserve of the English and it spread to Ireland while they were there...the middle and upper classes of course!

There is no doubt the setting is calm, relaxed and exudes a classy air. The offerings are served buffet style and are divided into two rooms with savories and pastries in their respective setting. I have already said this is an unusual afternoon tea in so far as you are offered such oddities as sushi, prawn rolls, pate, savories, sausages, etc. These are not your typical afternoon offerings, nor are they anything to do with chocolate., but are there and are included.

Where are the three tier plates with the offerings artistically plated? The buffet style is perfectly acceptable should you need more of anything. An afternoon tea recently in the Dusit Thani was in fact nicer, and served correctly with the three tier plates.

Now let me be fussy and hopefully offer some helpful observations.
First the French are certainly not known as tea drinkers. I personally do not know a single French person who does not have coffee to kick start their day. So why offer French breakfast teas as opposed to the far more recognised English or Irish breakfast tea? Both these nationalities are among the highest tea drinkers in the world per capita. The French drink a mere pittance in comparison.

The sandwiches are not altogether correct. There should be cucumber sandwiches, salad perhaps, egg, baked ham, etc. The bread on the sandwiches was also not fresh. The filled mini buns are not a typical feature.

You will get warm scones with the correct cream and a good quality strawberry jam. The pastries are not by any means a wow factor with only a couple actually chocolate. Remove the pretty ordinary truffles, the heavy sponge and you have little chocolate left to choose from. This is by no stretch of the imagination any where remotely near a "chocoholics" paradise.

I respectfully suggest you do not try to reinvent afternoon tea. Stick to the original and if it is to be a chocolate feast....then let it be so.

We were well disappointed.

Absolutely fine. Great location as you can walk to most places Bit claustrophobic inside as it is quite dark and we were forever getting lost. Staff were great especially when we overslept and missed breakfast.

I stayed here for 10 days whilst on a work trip. Every time I stepped foot in the hotel I instantly relaxed. The service was impeccable from all the staff whether it was concierge or room service. The hotel is modern yet still respects the traditional side of Thailand as well. A great hotel. I will definitely be coming back. The location is also perfect for getting around Bangkok to see the sights.

If you want a truly great Bangkok Hotel, stay at the Sukuthai!
My wife and I returned to stay here 3 times while visiting in Asia, as service, friendliness and attentiveness of Hotel staff unparalleled! All aspects of hotel earn a AAA+ quality rating with particular" Best of Bangkok" rating for buffet breakfast (Colonnade) and Italian food( La Scala).
The Sukuthai never fails in making your Thai visit completely enjoyable & memorable in all areas.
