“Oasis in the middle of Bangkok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

Such great hospitality - nothing is too much for the staff at Sukhothai. Got upgraded to an executive suite which is huge. The bathroom is as big as the sitting room/bedroom. Nice view of the green courtyard. Some highlights:

Fancied some mangosteen and told the concierge who explained that the fruits were not in season but they would try and fine them. True enough, later that day, they delivered some to the room (and my friend's room too).

Huge spread for breakfast - spoiled for choice. The staff were happy to make whatever you fancy if they are not part of the buffet.

Had supper and lunch at the Thai restaurant (part of the hotel but different building) - best Pad Thai I've ever had in a very long time. The set menu for supper is extensive. Highly recommended.

Pool and gym are OK - nothing to shout about.

What sets it apart though is the service. Nothing is too much for them: check in staff, concierge, procurement team, breakfast team etc - everyone makes you feel rather special! If you're an AMEX member, use their Platinum Travel and FHR programme. A lot of benefits come with it.

This ranks among the best hotels I've ever stayed at. I can't believe the negative reviews I read before hand that made me nervous. The rooms are freaking awesome...perfect blend of comfort and technology. Service is next to none. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, and situated in its own little oasis. The food on site is great, too. And, the pool is fantastic. Anything negative I could possibly say about it would be completely nitpicky and make me feel like some kind of snob, so I will just say that it is basically without fault.

The Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok is incredible for its service and beauty. This is a near perfect hotel. What a wonderful experience when everything goes to your expectations. Checking in to the hotel was a seamless experience—even better was my introduction to a most unbelievable room—luxurious, elegant, and a wonderful escape from a busy and hectic world. There's a timelessness about the hotel that I like—like it has been around for a long time. The hotel describes it as a "A marriage of the golden days of Thailand’s ancient Sukhothai heritage and the cosmopolitan luxury of modern-day Bangkok", and I agree. They hotel has modern facilities and the service is welcoming and exceptional. In fact, I'd say the hotel delivers an impeccable experience. The Sukhothai offers up a unique atmosphere that makes it one of my favorites.

From the moment we were greeted at the entrance to the hotel our experience at The Sukhothai was perfect. A tasteful, well designed hotel, with wonderful well trained and friendly staff, our suite was beautifully decorated, the bed so comfortable, the air conditioning at just the right temperature, the service impeccable, and the food delicious. If you don't mind being located in the business district, this is Asias best hotel experience. Low rise, with lovely gardens and restful views.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a suite, so much more room with stunning bathrooms.

the resort with a lavish green garden and ponds gives a really cosy and upmarket touch to the hotel. it is at the center surround by tall business buildings

breakfast is marvelous with lots of choices. only catch is that the waiter seems not attentive. no one approached to offer me coffee, and when requested, forgotten. i eventually got my coffee after calling 3 different waiter/waitress

one of the few low rise hotels left in Bangkok, the Sukhothai is a welcome haven in the bustling city. Much more individual than some of the chain luxury hotesl Tasteful rooms and brilliant décor not Thai kitsch, nice public area and pool, which gets busy on weekends. Most rooms look out onto an internal garden and pond. Staff pay the right amount of attention, not as intrusive as other places. Hotel is just a short walk away from Bangkok's night life and the Sky train. Ideal for single or couples, not really good for children. Not cheap, but worth the money

i am very regular customer, and stayed so many times in the hotel.
management killed one of the best hotel in the world, and over two years both the service, cleaning and atmosphere of the hotel changed so so much. for example, they changed the pool umbrellas to ugliest clour, rooms are not cleaned, dismissive front of house staff.

Room Tip: stay on the main building
