“Perfect start to our honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2010

The Peninsula was the perfect way to kick off the start of our honeymoon. From the moment we were picked up at the airport we were treated with impeccable service.

We stayed in a small suite and could not have been happier. The room did seem a bit dated although it still lived up to our expectations. The hotel also feels more business oriented and is pretty quiet and lacking any sort "scene". After being immersed in the chaos of Bangkok it was nice to have somewhere tranquil to relax and get away.

The hotel is not in the best location however it is easy to use the ferry to get to the other side of the river where there is more going on.

After reading so many endorsements of this hotel and staying at the Peninsula in NYC I was thoroughly looking forward to ending our trip in Thailand at this hotel. The service is absolutely amazing (concierge is very helpful), restaurants we similar to US five star hotels (very rare in Thailand). We did enjoy the river front location but sometimes found the ferries to be annoying. Both the Shangri La and the Mandarin are also on the river but the better side. The so called hi tech rooms seemed antiquated. Old crt tvs. I did appreciate the automatic blinds to keep the room from letting any light in. The hotel felt very business oriented and had I been traveling for work i would probably have a different review. We actually ended up getting stuck in Bangkok for a couple extra days and stayed at the Sheraton Grand in Sukhumvit. Half the price just as nice as well as attached to the sky train. Next time we may try the four seasons

We travel frequently, and have been in many luxury hotels. The Peninsula remains the best in the world. If you have a choice, stay there!

This hotel was a slice of paradise in Bangkok. I am a 'hard-to-please' traveler, and this property exceeded every expectation I had. The value was exceptional. I was upgraded to a suite upon arrival, and they were offering a 'stay 3 night, pay 2' promotion. The morning included buffet breakfast was amazing!! The service, grounds, staff, pool, transportation and everything were outstanding. I have stayed in many luxury hotels, and this is definitely one of the best! We had initially been at the Mandarin Oriental across the river and I can tell you that there is no comparison. The Pennisula far outweighs that property in every respect.

I've just been to the Peninsula for the second time and have sworn to go back. You simply cannot top this hotel. Nothing but perfection, be it in the impeccable service of the ultra-friendly hotel staff, the luxurious rooms with stunning views, the mouthwatering food (don't miss the Riverside Terrace buffet dinner!), the lush tropical gardens, the haven of tranquility found in the Spa... In short, the Peninsula is simply unbeatable.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2010

Spent three nights here in January 2010 and loved it. the location is superb. Our room had stunning views of the river. I cannot understand the suggestion that it is on the wrong side of the river. It is so easy to get anywhere you want from here. We used a taxi only once. If we wanted to go West, we used one of the river ferries; if we wanted to cathch the nightlife or shopping we caught the hotel boat to the Skytrain station. Everything was accessible with a minimum of effort.
There is a gorgeous pool by the river; an excellent spa; a really high class Chinese restaurant; a very nice bar on the river terrace and a very impressive pianist/ lounge singer in their main bar. I was not so keen on the lobby (they could make it a bit more lively) or the buffet on the river terrace (waiter service would be better for such a specatular setting). And their Thai restaurant was quite disappointing on teh one night we tried it. But, overall, this was a hotel that did not disappoint. I do not know how they manage to provide such a personal service in a hotel of this size.
I hope to go back soon.
