Chatrium is a great place to stay. I used it as my kick off to my tour in Thailand. I arrived midday on EVA air, so I was early to the hotel. Being early the room was not ready, so I was given a voucher for a drink at the bar and I rested in the main lobby. A few moments later I was escorted to the front desk, where I was told that my room has been upgraded to the studio apartment. It consisted of living and bed rooms, kitchen, bath and balcony with a pretty good view. The service was excellent and staff attentive. Free van service to some locations in the city was availble most of the day, but you had to make your way back...not a problem. Breakfast was included (make sure you do that when booking) and was truely an international food extravaganza. It would have put most cruise lines to shame. I had never seen so many jams presented and the fruit was fresh and extrordinary. I tried them all. The dining room could have been at the UN there were so people of different nationalities. The garden area houses the pool and fitness rooms and is surrounded by conferences rooms, but there was no conflict between the relaxing folks and those attending a meeting. Later in the evening a long marvelous Thai food buffet is set up...fantastic choices! I had a dinner in the main resturant, it was excellent, presented well, cooked to perfection and the staff well informed and attentive without being annoying. I used the in-house spa for an oil massage. It was very good and of course you are paying for the environment of the spa and service. I have to say that I did have some massages that were better at small local street store front places, yet they don't have the private rooms and soft pillow couches and tea and fruit afterwards. Yet every place I had a massage had tea. The pool is large, island in the middle with trees and birds and a bridge. Plenty of lounge chairs and a child shallow area. Fitness center was well used and big towels for pool goers are available. The room was restful and the shower very good with plenty of hot water. It amazes me that even here there was really no place to hang your damp towel. Door knobs and ends of doors are the norm. I found that true at every place I stayed except one where there was a bamboo ladder effort for the towels that stood free. Unique. The refer had the complimentary two free bottles of water per day, that seems to be the standard at all places. The Chatrium is a great place to stay. It may be a little out of the way for some folks but well worth the price. if you chose a Chatrium this is a good one.
