“Lives up to the billing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

old fashioned charm and good grace married with modern efficiency. Staff exemplary - the tiniest detail taken care of - the food was delicious. Room service twice and each time was a delight, Garden wing had great views of the river, at night a real treat to watch the beautifully lit boats sail by.
By no means cheap, but still value for money, you would struggle to get this level of service in many hotels. Back to work next week and the endless rounds of Holiday Inn Express - boy I am going to miss this :(

Room Tip: Garden Wing

I can't say enough about the service and attention given to a perfect stay! Everything is done 'to the nines'. We had a water front room that I love as you can watch the all the river traffic in this the Venice of the East. The restaurant service an food were delicious. I have stayed here many times and every time it gets better. Number one choice in Bangkok.

Room Tip: River view is recommended!

Every tiny detail attended to with a smile, grace and attention. My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here, and if there is a chance to spend another week here to celebrate our 30th, well, I'll stick it out just to stay here again! Our room overlooked the river, from the 15th floor. We enjoyed breakfast every morning at the Verandah, lunch every day poolside. We were included in a cocktail party at the hotel which led us to meet interesting people, who threaded the enjoyment of our trip. I foolishly forgot to pack my dress shoes, but no worries. The concierge pointed me to...Not the expensive places to buy shoes, but the small shipping center down the way, and $20 later I had 3 new pairs of killer shoes. All our day trips were organized by the concierge after that. We suffered no disappointments, except that we had to leave. This is, and always has been, the best hotel in the World. Polish up you manners, and shimmy on over. You will not be disappointed. At All.

Room Tip: We have no idea. We simply asked, and we received.

We stayed for 7 nights and this was without doubt the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The food, the service, the view, the rooms, everything was incredible.
I will be back again soon, very soon!

This really is one of the world's best hotel.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Garden Wing.

This is probably the best hotel in the world. The standards of comfort and service are beyond belief. Nothing is too much trouble. Each of the restaurants is worthy of a rave review in itself but collectively they are unbeatable. The buffet restaurant on the terrace and the Thai restaurant on the other side of the river provide a wonderful Al Fresco experience and Lord Jim's is one of the best restaurants in Bangkok. Great pool area and amazing spa. I cannot recommend the Mandarin highly enough.

Hotel:
Having been in Bangkok many times, there is yet no hotel coming close to the Mandarin's service and standards. It's the finest quality I have experienced in BKK so far and will remain like that I am assuming.

Restaurants:
The buffet dinner at the terrace is amazing and the atmosphere alongside the river is just great.
A trip to BKK without having afternoon tea or dinner at the Mandarin is like watching a soccer match and leaving 10 minutes before the game is over. FAIL!
If staying over night, make sure not to miss the spectacular breakfast!

Spa:
No clue, have not tried

Room Tip: Spacy and tidy rooms, excellent concierge and butler service. Make sure to get a river-view room. Th...

Stunning hotel, unparalleled service, I just can't fault it. I always stay here for a couple of nights when passing through Bangkok. It's a real oasis of calm in the middle of a busy city. It's not cheap, but you do get what you pay for. I would suggest booking a room with a breakfast inclusive rate unless you don't mind paying $200 for a family of 4! However the buffet, on the terrace right by the river, provides a lovely setting and the food is top notch. There is also an excellent Jazz bar, great place to retire to after dinner. It's difficult to see how this place could be improved. Go and enjoy.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a breakfast inclusive rate.
