“Old Hotel but have maintained its grandeur”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2010

hotel is old and still maintains it's grandeur, From another hotel we moved to Pathumwan being within MBK stayed 3 nights , thought I could just shop & shop till our last day.hotel room is clean, but room furniture & fittings in the bathroom needs to be replaced with new ones as rust starting to build up , the furniture looks tired and outdated, though it matches the hotel overall decor circa 19forgotten..but still looks grand and elegant, doesn't have that old smell of mildew/mold...Internet is expensive around $25USD per day..

We are pleased to inform that the entire hotel has undergone renovations and all guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas had a complete make over during the last 2 years.
The business center, the last area to be renovated, is scheduled to open in new decor mid december.
Happy to confirm as well that the internet pricing strucure will be changed in early 2011 and the hotel will be very competitive in this area.
Thank you for your comments.

We have stayed many times in the Pathumwan and keep coming back for the same reasons. The rooms are good, the pool and gym facilities excellent and the food, particularly the evening buffet is superb. This time we also tried the Indian restaurant (a franchise in the hotel building) and had an tasty inexpensive meal there. It helped that they had a drink promotion on. My only negative comment would be that drinks in the hotel bar are expensive e.g 220 Baht for a Singa beer. As a consequence the bar was empty and devoid of atmosphere each evening. Maybe a happy hour would help to drum up some custom.

The location, attached to the MBK and close to the skytrain makes shopping and getting around easy. Best of all when you are fed up of carrying a bags and tire of the shops it's a short walk to the peace and calm of the hotel.

I would definitely recommend the Pathumwan to anyone visiting Bangkok.

I travel to Thailand several times a year - and at least twice a year have my family with me. We had not stayed in Bangkok as part of our vacation in over a year and we decided to stay somewhere new - we chose the Pathumwan Princess hotel for its location and reputation.

We were not disappointed! We booked an execu-plus suite with a connecting delux room for our daughter. The rooms are large and very well equipped for both leisure and business. The beds are large and very comfortable with good linens and pillows. There were large flat screen TV's in both rooms and a DVD player in the execu-plus suite.

There was a bedroom with seperate living room in the suite, with a very large walk in closet and huge bathroom - the delux room was also large and very comfortable.

The location was fantastic for vacation time - being connected to MBK made shopping easy for 'her indoors' and my daughter was thrilled to know that bowling, cinema and foodcourts were all connected to the hotel!

Also the BTS is connected to MBK, so it made getting around bangkok very very easy

Staff were excellent and made sure we had a great time.

Overall - I highly recommend the hotel - particularily for those who like being close to the shopping - and who plan on using the skytrain to get around

We've stayed here many times overy many years. Like a wandering spouse, we try other hotels in Bangkok from time to time, yet we inevitably regret it and come back to the Pathumwan.

We always book the ExecuPlus room which is a roomy two-room suite with a kitchenette and a fully sized refrigerator.

The location is perfect, connected to the giant MBK center which should fulfill the shopping needs of anyone (btw - there's a grocery on the lowest level called TOPS).

The hotel has been undergoing gradual renovation over the years. The common areas are beautiful and the rooms are modern and well apportioned.

Staff and service are excellent.

We arrived for a 3 day stopover on our way home to do shopping and rest. The hotel had everything we had hoped for. It is attached to MBK and made shopping very easy. I felt cocooned in a safe environment and found the staff very pleasant and helpful. The room we had was very quiet and although I was a little nervous about Bangkok, enjoyed our stay there. Security seemed thorough with checks when entering the building and I would definitely stay here again. Seemed good value for money. The only tiny irritant was that I had a YABBA telephone card so I could phone my daughter back in NZ and throughout our whole trip had no charges added for use of hotel phone except here where they charged 220 bhart for use of room hotel phone. Pleased i only used it once. Otherwise, all good and breakfast was a banquet!!!!

we have stayed here twice and the improvements have only served to make it without doubt the best location in Bangkok from which to shop, explore, eat and above all feel safe.
