We have stayed at the Pathumwan Princess may times on our various trips to Bangkok. The hotel is attached to the MBK center (shopping mall) and is in a great walking location to many other malls as well as very close to the mass transit train. We love the value for money in this hotel. I would totally recommend this hotel as a great place for couples or families to stay.

Stayed there in October 2009 with sister. Second stay there. Refurbishment very nice but very western influence. Food great and couldn't fault rooms, and service etc. Great location for shopping. . Sister tripped on rug in room, rug not secured by non slip backing. Reported to reception who dealt with the situation and offered medical attention. She sustained black eye, sore jaw and broken spectacles but declined the offer. Excellent tour desk - World Travel Service. Staff helpful in helping us send large carton of gifts back home. Bell hop transported 25kg carton to shipping office in MBK centre on luggage trolley. The music ensemble that was there in 2006 was not there this time. Would definately go stay there again. Would not stay anywhere else in Bangkok. Too convenient. P.S. Mananged to buy new spectacle frames for Australian $14.00 in MBK centre.

If this hotel is rated 4 star then so called 5 star hotels in Australia need to do some explaining. Best location, great rooms, fantastic staff, lovely breakfast. In fact the hotel had a lovely ambience about it. Whilst we were there the demonstrations were on the verge of starting and management were very proactive on updating guests on the situation. The managers invited guests to contact them personally if they had any concerns. We took up this offer and spoke to the manager and as we were leaving for Phuket on the day the demonstrations started they advsied and helped us to get out of bangkok earlier than we had planned. I wll definitely return to this hotel some time in the future.

On our last stay in November 2009 we received a free upgrade to a Deluxe room. We enjoyed the room so much that decided to book the same style of room again and were not disappointed! After being delayed for almost 2 hours at the airport we called the hotel...They immediately reorganised our transfer and on arrival gave us VIP service with a full escort from Reception to inside the room...Never had that before! The service continued throughout our stay and we were overwhelmed by the friendliness of EVERY staff member. Housekeeping staff always took the time to smile and greet us. On one occasion we received a wave and an almost 'giggling' good afternoon from the other end of the corridor. Full marks to the management for such a happy friendly team. Buffet breakfast was included in the price and again the range and quality would please everyone. Location is excellent for shopping with direct connection the MBK Centre and a short distance to the Pa too Namm Market which are both open 7 days from 10am.

Arrived and was greeted by very attentive bellboys who virtually ran out to carry all our luggage. Check-in was a breeze and the lady who attended to us was very polite and courteous. She even followed us all the way to our room and explained to us all the features in the room. We arrived early and was allowed into our room at 1pm.

Room was generally clean, comfortable and modern. Only drawback is that the air conditioning fan was a bit noisy even though we put it to the lowest fan speed. Strangely, only one toothbrush was provided throughout our 3 night's stay even though I clicked 2 staying guest on the hotel website itself when making the booking.

The welcome fruit basket was a let down as day 2 and day 3, we could still see the same leftover fruits that we were unable to finished since the first day. It wasn't replenished and by day 3 the banana looked a bit rotten.

I had a glass of juice in the room I bought from the street and few hours later, ants were seen storming the empty glass of juice which I forget to wash. Also I saw a small cockroach scurrying outside my room door when i opened to collect the morning newspaper hanging outside my room. Mind you we were staying on the 28th floor!

Breakfast at the CiTi BiSTRo was a nightmare and a total disappointment. Unaware that there is a "main" entrance, we walked in from another entrance instead. Seeing no one attending to us, we just walked in and find our own seat. We sat on an "empty" table and were interrupted by a leading waitress whose tone and attitude was rude! She told us that the seat was taken, so we just shifted to the next table beside us. Half an hour into our meal we still did not see anyone occupying that "empty" table beside us! Breakfast food was the same for the 3 days, nothing to shout about actually.

The 2nd day morning as it was Sunday, the CiTi BiSTRo was a bit crowded and we were standing with quite a few guest in a queue outside waiting to enter. One thing I noticed was that in fact there were many empty tables available but it just that no one cleared the tables. Again the same leading waitress impolitely asked if we would like to make a trip to the 8th floor to have breakfast instead! I told her that I would like to wait here instead and so did the rest of the guests standing behind the queue. True enough within seconds table was available and with a poker face expression, we were shown to our table by the same leading waitress. This time round, I waited quite some time before coffee was served and I even had to wave my hands to get the waiter attention! Breakfast in the restaurant ended at 10:30am and the staff was already seen arranging all the tables and cleaning the floor at 10:45am and we had a feeling as though we were not welcome and need to exit fast in order not to disrupt their work.

On day 3 we were shown to a table near the entrance even though there were many empty tables inside the CiTi BiSTRo! It was very inconvenient as people made their way in and out of the main restaurant door all the time . The food serving counter was also just right beside our table and guest getting their food had to weave beside our table all the time to avoid knocking on my chair. It made the 3 days breakfast experience so miserable for us throughout this trip! I should have booked just the room only without breakfast if I knew it is going to turn out like this!

Nevertheless check-out was also a breeze and the staff that attended to us at the reception was very polite and courteous. Again the bellboy was very attentive all the time to help us carry our luggage as well as getting us a taxi. One plus point about this hotel is that we were granted late check out till 3pm as our flight was around 6pm.

Overall I would like to comment the excellent service rendered at the reception and those bellboys manning the hotel entrance! Not forgetting the always polite and smiling security personnel manning all the entrance in/out of the hotel.

Would not be staying in this hotel again as I believe the price that I paid is a bit on the high side and didn't get the service that I had expected after reading earlier reviews here.
