“Excellent location and accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

My 2 adult sons and I recently traveled to Bangkok for a weekend together. One son was recently transferred to Kuala Lumpur and we were visiting him there. None of us had been to Bangkok before. We wanted to stay at a reasonably priced hotel in the old city. Our final choice was the Royal Princess Hotel and we were extremely pleased with our stay. The hotel was everything it stated it was. Large, well appointed clean rooms, great quiet location with easy access walking or cab to everything we wanted to pack into our weekend. Breakfast was great to start each day. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Great value for the price.

Room Tip: We had rooms on the 5th and 6th floor and found them very quiet. City view which was not noisy at al...

Stayed here before a tour of Thailand. Service is excellent. The room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool the was very nicely appointed. The hardwood like tile on the balcony floor is a very classy touch.

I decided to upgrade the room to include the breakfast buffet. Although expensive when compared to the surrounding food prices it was excellent. Coffee is Starbucks quality and the bacon is top notch.

The pool is a relaxing oasis that is perfect to chill by after a long travel day. It's design feels very minimalist so I imagine smaller children would bore quickly.

Overall it's Great hotel to experience the city at a fair price.

Staff and friendly and very helpful with arranging transport and things to see and do in Thailand.
The entrance to the Hotel is beautiful and you think you have arrived at the wrong hotel until you get up to the floor and then your room. Floors and rooms need upgrades to match the entrance. Walls have no sound proofing so you can hear the what’s happening in the room next door.
Rooms were cleaned daily but not vacuumed daily.
Breakfast is ok, the hot food was warm most days, but the chiefs were happy to cook additional food as required.
Lunch and dinner at the hotel has 10% service and 7% VAT taxes added on at the end of bill, so beware of dinning costs at the hotel.
The hotel is quite isolated and is not within walking distance of the shopping centers or other restaurants, so your limited to eating at the hotel or taking a taxi to the shopping centers for meals, unless you want to eat from the side of the road food stalls.
Ensure you know where you are, as the taxi drivers say they know where to take you but don’t, even using the hotels card, with the hotel name and address written in Thai. About a 60 – 80 baht trip from the hotel to MBK shopping center, but there a free shuttle that will take you to MBK but no return service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with no early morning travellers (tour bus groups) or screaming kids

The staff was always so gracious and wity to deal with, I miss that friendly and can do attitude at home now. The room was spacious with a touch of few pieces of ''antique'' is practical that within 80baht you are at silom. tv channel covers pretty much everything you would want to watch, internet was smooth I stayed there one week and was offered internet free of charge when booking with them directly on their website, but only offered one hour per day when booking through agoda. The room service was 24 hours and had not little options for vegetarian as they had three restaurants on site. The hotel itself is 50 years old, the bathrooms were small but acceptable. Just old, room attendant all friendly and smily but they could spent more money on the bathroom as definitely not top class. In general, it was an ok experience for what you pay for and the class. fitness was good, and so was the pool. The spa was fine, just got a bad look as i walked in one hour before closing so there were a bit of rush and anxiety over there. But the staff really need proper english training, found it very difficult to speak with 50% of the staff in the hotel. Also at some point you treated like an ATM machine, coz every single activity in the hotel that you participate will COST YA!!!!

Room Tip: make sure if everything is working before you unpack and settle in your room, if something breaks yo...

Bath took 45 minutes to empty. Informed staff at reception 3 days running but no action taken. Spoke with Manager who has no concept of accepting responsibility that his staff failed to perform their duty. Found extremely unreasonable and when I checked out I paid my food and mini bar bills but said no to the room charge he simply called security to block my exit. Room was not vacuumed and the floor was covered with items from previous guest. My worst experience in Thailand to where I have been traveling for over 20 years.

Dear Guest,

I am writing to extend my most sincere apologies for all the inconvenience caused to you.
I understand your comments about the bath rooms problem and am pleased to inform you that our staff action immediately when you inform. They were waiting for you came back from working to check the feedback with you but the room put do not disturbed. It was very a surprise when you check out and don’t want to pay for the accommodation 4 nights. Our staffs check the bath room before you leave, water draining but a bit slowly. It’s reasonably to discount 50% for your accommodation.
As a hotel, we have no defense of necessity to be made in regard of the guest problem I have discussed this process with our team to review the system and make it more efficient in order to prevent

I stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights and the service is spectacular, except the language sometimes I have difficulties with it... Otherwise it is a place recommended for luxury travelers, it is safe and a bit expensive... Internet keeps cutting off over time...

Room Tip: All rooms seems to be quieter and large...

I attended a conference of UNESCAP RIM Rio+20 and decided to bring along my grandchildren. While I was in the conference, the kids enjoyed the tours of the Reclining Buddha and Dreamworld and while waiting for me, enjoyed the swimming pool of the hotel. Since we had to leave for the airport at 6:00 a.m. before the dining room opened at 6:30 a.m., we were told to just order breakfast through room service, AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. Isn't that the height of being considerate so we would not travel on an empty stomach?

Room Tip: We asked for a connecting room so that it was conducive to bonding of the family.
