“condominiums turn into hotel suites”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2009

Arriving to the lane of the hotel, something tells me that this hotel was not built as a hotel but as a condominium complex. The entrance is too meagre to be a 5 star hotel.

Upon checking in, it was evident that this is an after thought hotel, perhaps this is the result of 1997 economical down-turn in Bangkok, leaving many building un-finished.

The suites layout was that of a typical high-rise apartment, the balcony in the web is a mislead, as our Deluxe suites has 2 air conditioning units on it. and you have to sign a form to be responsible for yourself if you decided to jump off! well I thought of doing it when I go out to the balcony, the hot air from the units was stifling, however the view was worth it, in small doses.

There is a kitchenette like in a one-bed condo, but in a 5-star's hotel suite, this was weird. I can't find many positive things to say about the suites, accept that the bed was comfortable (but ugly) the bathroom Bvlgari amenities were good (to make up for the under average decor and cheap fixtures).

The pool next to the breakfast restaurant is small and strangely located so that not much sun will ever reach any sunbathers.

Breakfast was average, even if the flower arrangement was that of a good hotel, the overall feeling is that we were in a lower rating hotel.

The roof top restaurant was a highlight I must admit. There is a wow factor on arrival, the bar location is not for people with vertigo, the restaurant, even though not cheap I feel it was worth it, for its food and services was up to the standard of its class.

I can understand why their rooms were constantly discounted, as with the same rate you are better off going to the suites of Dusit Thani or the Emporium. Just pay a little more, Shangri-la is a much better option.

It rained the only night we were there - so could not go upto the sky bar. Perhaps the staff at Lebua has not perfected the art of controlling the weather yet - but given time - it's possible
The view from our room on the 59th floor - was absolutely amazing - we could look upon the Chao Phraya river and for miles around. Huge rooms - no rather suites - with a large balcony. Not much to complain about there at all
The staff was courteous, in elegant attire and very very capable - from the doorman to the reception staff - and even in the restaurants. It was evident that they had been well trained.
And the food was delicious - every single item that we ordered - could be rated between very tasty to absolutely delicious. The Cafe Mozu breakfast buffet - was amazing for the quality and the variety.
All in all - this seems like a hotel - which is - to borrow a phrase from an automobile ad - in the relentless pursuit of perfection. And coming pretty close
Dollar for dollar ( or baht for baht) - Lebua offers the best amenities or services that any hotel in Bangkok can provide

Our stay here was great. The rooms are large and clean. The restaurants and bars on the property are beautiful. Our only complaint was that for the money you would expect a little better food; the presentation and atmosphere was excellent but the taste left something to be desired. They have very nice and affordable tours from the hotel that we highly recomend.
We'll definately return.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. The location is quite near to the sky train station and the pier. From entrance to departure I was treated like royalty. The genuine smile, attention and concern of the staff was truly first class. I loved the big suite, open balcony and the fantastic bathroom. On entering the room I was given a welcome chocolate box, but as soon as the lady saw I had two kids, she handed each of them a welcome box as well! Nice touch.. I was impressed. Surely one of the best in Bangkok.

Really impressed with this hotel. Rooms are massive and ours included a sofa area, coffee maker, huge fridge and brilliant views over the city. In a good location for the river and skytrain. The staff were falling over themselves to be polite, in fact there seemed to be a huge number of staff. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice and they serve 'til 11am. Lovely pool area and the sky bar, whilst expensive, is something you should not miss. Our stay included a free meal at Cafe Mozu which was lovely, pricey if you are paying though, two beers and water came to over £30!

IF you have never been to Bangkok before, at first glance you think the the hotel is located is a very seedy area. In fact there are rundown streets in the area, however you are very close to the river and can easily walk to the ferry pier to catch the water buses. Which is what I do. I grab a water bus and head a few stops up river to see the sights.
There is a metro station further up Silom Road maybe a 15 minute walk or so.
Inside the hotel everything is first class, staff are very good, place is very clean, everything works. The rooms are huge and well appointed and offer great views of the city. NOTE - despite advertising balconies with rooms, they are not useable. They are all locked due to safety concerns. This is really too bad.
Breakfast buffet is large with lots of choice, but expensive for Bangkok at 600 baht. Go to the restaurant or the bar on the upper floors to see the whole city for miles at night. Caution the restaurant will be expensive, expect to spend several hundred dollars for a meal for two with wine.
The area has lots stores for shopping and restaurants geared for tourists offering western food.

Very nice hotel, high level of service. Rooms are large. Amazing views on high floors. The breakfast buffet was amazing, and shouldn't be missed. The pool is slightly unspectacular, but considering the crowded area around the hotel, it's just fine. It's a few minutes walk to the Taksin BTS skytrain station, or they have a free shuttle every 30 minutes up til 5 pm. There are amazing bars and restaurants all over the hotel, but quite expensive. Still, the outdoor bar on the roof should not be missed, long pants required. There's really nothing to complain about... but the t.v.'s are outdated in the rooms... that was all i could think of. The FRETTE bed sheets are the highest quality in the world.

THere is a Starbucks downstairs, McDonalds and KFC nearby, as well as a Robinson's shopping center. IT's not far from the Shangra La hotel, River City pier... and with the BTS, you're just ten minutes away from the main shopping malls of Bangkok.

Highly recommended.
