“Book the club rooms! All just been refitted very nice :-)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

Great hotel, this was my 4th stay and first time in the club rooms, they were fantastic, far better than the rest if the hotel and worth spending that extra money. Complimentary drinks and snacks from 18.00 - 20.09, although not a huge range of snacks.
Location is good, an easy walk to central world for shopping, about 10 minutes from the nearest sky train stop. Be warned though, the traffic in this area is terrible and a short journey can take a very long time!

Dear KohSamuiMarie,

Thank you for your great review of the hotel. I was so pleased to read how much you enjoyed the newly refurbished Executive rooms and lounge.

The location is indeed excellent for shopping but it's true, traffic can get quite sticky like most of Bangkok, thankfully most of the key attractions are within walking distance. It's good advice though and with all taxi journeys in Bangkok, allow a little extra time!

Thank you once again for taking the time to write and we look forward to welcoming you back soon to your "home" in Bangkok.

With kindest regards,

Ciaran Brazil

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Amari Watergate this December. We were staying at the Executive Floor and served by excellent staff at the Executive Club floor. We sincerely like to thank the hotel General Manager, Mr Pierre-Andre Pelletier who welcomed us upon our arrival and also Ms Supaporn Singhaphan, Executive Floor Manager who checked us in. I was very surprised that Ms Supaporn can still remember me. All the staff at the Executive Club floor were excellent in their services and they made you feel warm at home. They always give you their sincere smile even they were busy. My family enjoyed the stay very much especially my 2 daughters. I would like to also thank Ms Suphanee who was very caring towards my daughters. Ms Suphanee is indeed a very hardworking staff and I think the hotel should give her credit of her excellent service. My husband who is a Thai nationality and is currently working in a 5 star hotel in Singapore as Guest Service Manager and he too commented that Amari Watergate staff are well trained, independent and polite. It is an excellent choice to stay at this hotel whether you are on business trip or holiday with family. I had stayed at a few of the 5 stars hotel in Bangkok and Amari Watergate is the best of the best. Now that the Executive Floor has been newly renovated (eventhough I missed the old wooden deco), I will definitely look forward to stay at Amari Watergate for my next trip.
Overall, this is a hotel that you should not miss and once you stay with them, I guarantee that you will love it, trust me......Amari we love you !!!!

Dear chongkatherine,

Thank you for your amazing review of the hotel. It was so great to read of your experience in the newly renovated Executive rooms and lounge and most of all to read your wonderful comments about the team, from Mr Pelletier, our wonderful GM, to Khun Supaporn and Khun Suphanee.

It is great to the positive words from your husband too, especially as he is in the industry and understands Guest Service so well, it is a real compliment.

I will be sure to pass your fantastic review to all the team but especially those mentioned and please remember - Amari loves you too!! and we do hope we will have the chance to welcome you back to your "home" in Bangkok very soon.

With warmest regards,

Ciaran Brazil

One and a half years later I am back in Bangkok, and at the Watergate again.
Impressive investments were made to even further improve existing infrastructure.
The Excecutive Floor has been revamped and has now an outdoor place with the fantastic view on the city. Absolutely gorgeous. The outdoor jacuzzi is great and another new feature is a "al fresco" lounge and bar at the entrance on the right, from where you can enjoy the craziness of the Pratunam Streets whilst sipping a cokctail in a lounge chair.
As ever service is impeccable, attentionate and quick. And the location is top with shopping and services around the corner and Elevated Train a 10 min walk away.
I shall be back!

Dear Eric B,

Thank you for your amazing review of the hotel. It was brilliant to note your observations from your stay 18 months ago and for you to see the benefits of the upgraded product in the lounge and in Cascade. We appreciate we need to keep our product continually refreshed so it is great to see our returning guests appreciate that investment.

Thank you once again for taking the time to write, I am glad to see you shall be back and I hope it won't be 18 months before we are welcoming you back to your "home" in Bangkok.

With kindest regards,

Once again I came to Amari Watergate and it is just getting better and better.
Great hospitality, excellent staff in the best location in BKK.
The hotel is run by superior management that make it looks so easy, but behind it you can see all the hard work done to make you feel so much at home.
Whatever your budget is, come to Amari and you will get your best money for value deal ever.
Until next time...

I had a great time in this hotel. It was very nice and very comfortable.
We stayed in the Deluxe standard room which was a large room with King size bed. I find the bed a little firm for my taste but you get used to it. And fantastic that you can actually request special therapeutic pillows if u wish to.

Location is a good 10min walk from Chit Lom station and i did not like the short stretch walk across tge stream that we have to pass by everyday to go to the BTS station. Much too narrow and crowded for me. But thats hardly the hotels fault though.

Dear iyazmin,

Thank you for your wonderful review of the hotel. It was great to read how much you enjoyed your stay with us, especially the comfort of the bedroom and the extra touches of the pillow menu.

Sorry about the walk across the bridge, it is busy there. As you said, we cannot change that I am afraid but I do appreciate where you are coming from.

Thank you once again for writing, we really do appreciate it and I look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.

Yours sincerely,

We stayed at the Amari Watergate in December 2012. It is a very comfortable hotel and right in the middle of all the shopping. The room was neat. the breakfast and lunch buffets were quite a spread. We stayed in the Executive rooms up on the 34th floor. There is a separate executive lounge on the 32nd floor where they serve free coffee/tea and snacks from 5-7 pm for all the people who stay in the executive rooms.

This was our first visit to Thailand and we choosed to spend 14 nights at Amari Watergate in Bangkok. Location i central Bangkok is good. Close to Ratchaprarop Airport Link Station. But we do not understand what the description on the hotels homepage “Easy access to Ratchatewi BTS skytrain and Petchburi subway” means. The promenade to the BTS takes 20 minutes. It was very hot in Bangkok (ca 35-36 C at the time of our stay).
Pratunam market and similar malls are interesting to see from a general point of view but it was not useful for us for shopping. The sizes of clothes are small or “one size”, it is not possible to try anything there, return if it does not fit or get back change...
Because of the fact that shopping was not the purpose of our trip, so we are not disapointed.

Hotel interior is very nice. Nice lobby, garden and pool. It feels like to enter a paradise when you come in after being outside, cool and nice, smelling flowers.
We had Deluxe room on 11 floor. The room var big, 40 m2 and well equipped. Cleaning was good and cleaning lady was very friendly.

Breakfast restaurant was very good. It offered a great selection for all. We have enjoyed many different cuisines and the service in the breakfast restaurant is outstanding and the staff was very kind and willing to serve their guests. They are really professional and friendly. Best we ever met!

We visited also the Chinese restaurant and Thai on 4 for dinner and we can consider that the food is delicious and the service is very good. But the dinner restaurants are quite empty. which can depend on the competition from all alternative very cheap restaurants around. Anyway, we think that price level for restaurant dishes is ok for us, but prices for beverages is to high (90 Bath for ordinary water without gas).
I also would like to mention that I was fully satisfied with the pedicure I ordered the 19 dec. Good quality and nice personnel.

The weak point of this hotel is the reception. We arrived at 9.30 am directly after 11 hours flight and the room var prepaid for the whole period of 14 days (we had a voucher)
The room was not prepared. We understand that the official check in is 14.00 pm and we appreciate that the hotel tries to make some efforts to let the people check in earlier if possible.
But when we received a preprinted paper to sign for the room, we could see that there were faulty name, faulty home address etc.. We had to change everything. We hoped to be offered some water or a cup of coffee during the waiting time of an hour, but this was not the case.
I think that the reception automatically could offer a map of Bangkok and some basic information about public transport options between the hotel and some attractions like canal boats, some useful air conditioned buses, etc. We´ve got a map after we asked.
Taxi service or tuk-tuk with its bad reputation was not an option for us.

We did not use any taxi or tuk-tuk booking services via the hotel and do not have any opinion of the quality.

At check out we should pay quite small bills för som some dinners and the reception stated that my Mastercard was not working and asking for another card. . Just beside us there were another customer having similar problems. My card has been used in Bangkok only 2 days ago without any problem. After a while, the reception seemed to solve the problem and presented the bill to sign. Ok, but it was discomfortable experience.
Another issue to improve is the elevator service usually taking 3-4 minutes to arrive.
Extra important in a tall building as the stairs are not an option.

WIFI in the lobby- was sometimes slow and had week signal. We think that free WIFI of good guality in every room is an important issue for many visitors and should be standard in 5 stars hotel.
