“A resort not that far from the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

This hotel is a resort getaway. If you are looking for hotel with easy access to the city and shopping complex, this is NOT the hotel for you. Easiest access to other part of the city is by river boat. To get access to the Metro station, you need to get on the hotel river boat which runs every 30 minutes. The Asiatique market place is very closeby, again by boat.

Room is very spacious and very clean. Breakfast is so-so. Not much variety. Almost the same foods in 2 days.

We stayed here for 4 nights, diffinately recommend the Anantara Riverside Spa & Resort, Bangkok. Upgraded to a river view room, best decision ever.

The gold medal goes to the staff and management, been to a lot of places. Not sure if it's the Thai people or they have the right people employed here, but we really enjoyed meeting and talking to anyone and everyone.

The accommodation was very nice, a great view over the river and pool from the top floor.

Loved the pool, would diffinately recommend to others.

Room Tip: A river view room with a balcony, or premier suite on the corner of a building on the top floor.

Had a great experience here in April 2013, and am hoping to come back soon. The place is very tastefully decorated in a mixture of modern and traditional Asian styles, and there are plenty of glamorous restaurants where you can get international standard cuisine. Benihana was my favourite with some of the best sashimi I've had outside of Japan, but even the breakfast buffet with its vast array of choices will give you a good start to a day of sightseeing. The spa was very beautiful and I highly recommend the 'Anantara Ritual' to get you set for some later beach fun. It's not a central hotel (15 min by boat from Saphan Taksin BTS) but if you time it right you can get to Siam in 30 minutes. It was worth it for the huge pool and leafy surroundings; you can go out in Sukhumvit and return to a resort that might as well be in Phuket. Recommended for those who want both city vibes and a relaxing, tropical atmosphere.

I recommend this hotel for those who will stay here in Bangkok. Staff are so polite and friendly. They will give a warm welcome. They clean our room excellent. Towels always new even bed sheet. I liked the bed and pillows, so soft. Complete amenities inside the room and inside the bathroom. We stay there for two nights and spent New Year's Eve beside the river. We really wait for the fireworks set in the middle of the river in a boat. Really so beautiful and amazing. This is not my first time to stay in anantara. I stayed here twice with friends and his family. I liked all the food being served especially the breakfast buffet. A lot of food. So satisfying.

Room Tip: Rooms near the river is better for me. The sound of the water splashing on the shore is music to my...

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights & although the place is beautiful we found the service poor, & very expensive even by 5 star standards.
We were caught out by the bottled water which they put in the room as they are on he side we presumed they were free they do have a yellow Evian label on them & we discovered too late the price on the other side of the label, which is £9.
When we checked out the porter took our cases & booked us a taxi only to realise when we got to our destination our cases had not been put in the taxi, this could have been a disaster had we been headed straight to the airport.
We then received an email the next day asking us to pay more money as they had forgotten to put some items from the mini bar on our bill ( they hadn't checked room) we told them at reception what we had from the minibar.
The email asked if they could take the money from the card we presented at check in ( Amex card & number) it wasn't even our card.
Wouldn't go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: It's very very off he beaten track... Don't drink the Evian water unless you're wiling...

Markus K, General Manager at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa, responded to this review, May 9, 2013
Dear Claude Money,

First and foremost, please accept my sincere apologies for us not delivering our usual high level of service, though I am obviously grateful for feedback so that we can learn and improve. Although we have complimentary bottles of water in the room we should make it more clear that Evian is not part of this, we will change this accordingly. We will make sure all members of our team know how important it is to present an accurate bill and I would like to apologize for the inconvenience we have caused after your stay.
If your schedule ever brings you back to Bangkok, please do contact me. I would be pleased to handle your reservation personally and my team would be delighted to have the opportunity to restore your faith in our hotel.

With thanks and warm regards

I recently stayed at Anantara Riverside for work purposes. I work in the hotel industry so am very critical about service, standards etc. Anantara Riverside was quality in every aspect. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. I lost a pair of earings in my room - reported this to reception and they went out of their way to find them for me. My room was a peaceful cool haven after a hot day working. Their are a range of restaurants to chose from at night - all fantastic. There is a free ferry to the BTS Station. I highly recommend Anantara Riverside Hotel for work or pleasure.

Room Tip: This year I had a room overlooking the pool - which was good however prerfer a river outlook room...
