“sooo expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

The hotel was great, quite luxury n of course it's expensive.
Very polite and helpful staff, i could borrow complete bowl with spoon and fork to make my own noodle.
Wifi????? hmmm it's 800 THB (about US$ 25) a day.

Room Tip: a room in upper floor

Dear guest
Hope that life is treating you well in your beautiful city of Jakarta
I would like to thank you not only to have chosen our Hotel for your recent stay, but as well for the nice review and comments you have made about our services and facilities.
I have taken good note the cost to access the Wi-Fi which you feel was too pricy.
The Centara collaborators are very appreciative and hope to welcome you again soon in Bangkok
Kind Regards

I spent 3 nights on a Club floor and was quite pleased with my room and its amenities. Master controls for the AC reverts to the default 24C so I needed to reset it to a lower temperature every time I returned to my room. I would have appreciated an additional master light switch at the entrance. The access cards can be rather fickle. Mine stopped working for the elevator and the room on the day I was due to check out -- before I had checked out!

The hotel should consider the provision of a house phone at the seating area near the elevators. One night, I inadvertently locked myself out when trying to put away a heavy dining tray (the angle of the room door makes this a challenge) and would have had to trek down to the reception in my sleepwear had my colleague not been on the same floor. Internet access (at a steep 670 baht/$18 for 10 hours) was inadequate for catering to a large-scale conference's needs.

Buan Sua restaurant staff are very courteous and thoughtful. I'd suggest that outlet burn some citronella candles to reduce the chances of diners becoming the main course for mosquitoes.

Overall, I found the hotel staff to be very respectful - they went the extra mile to meet my unusual requests. The only occasion when I found the service to be lacking was at the executive lounge when servers took forever to serve a glass of wine and a beer. Meals at the cafe also took a long time to be served and the servers were not at all attentive at that late hour. They fared much better during the day.

The buffet breakfast has an awesome selection and I looked forward to it each day!

The hotel is also connected to a large mall - I was very thankful to be able to squeeze in a little shopping there without needing to go into the city.

I have taken good note on some services deficiencies in our outlets, and the air conditioning features. Those constructive criticisms greatly help us to improve further our standards.

We stayed there for 3 nights in May this year for a 10-day Thailand tour and very pleased by the service and amenities of the hotel. The matress is a little bit too firm compare to US standard. Breakfast has lots of varieties to choose from and spa service is superb! Room is clean and nicely updated. The location is not at its best, but we came with a tour bus, who cares! The only unpleasant experience was the taxi driver at the nearby weekend market, he charged us 200 baht for half mile and dropped us off at Central Plaza but not the hotel!!

Spent 6 nights in the club king room. The renovation and rebranding well worth the effort. The room: Pro - furniture, flooring and bathroom. Con - stiff mattress, although typical for Thailand.
Club lounge: Pro - easy access, operating hours. Con - layout of food not as enticing as before rebranding. Housekeeping: Pro - room clean and ready without seeing staff around. Con - depending on personnel working housekeeping, turndown service and toiletries varies. Overall service was very good. If you have breakfast buffet as part of the room rate, worth it as it has a very good variety of food and beverages. Over-priced if purchased separately. Same thing goes for internet access. The access to Central Plaza is easy and quick through the hotel mezzanine level parking garage. Bank to change currency located in the entrance area to department store on mezzanine level; hours of operation 11AM - 8PM seven days a week. Extensive food court and grocery store on ground level. Weekend Market is two subway stops toward Bang Sue, entrance to subway (MRT) next to Central Plaza via pedestrian bridge towards the small public park side. You can get off at the Chatuchuk Station, but the 2nd station is closer to the market entrance. Sky train (BTS) can be accessed at the Mo Chit Station above the Chatuchuk subway station, just follow the signage. Of course, taxi is plentiful and cheap. Just be sure the meter is turned on and use the expressways if possible. The expressways will cost you a few bahts, but worth the cost in time saved during peak traffic times.

Room Tip: Take the room package plans as it will pay off in added perks.

We had the pleasure of stating at this property last month for a week.
It has been totally refurbished to a very high standard and offers a great range of restaurants,Thai,Japanese,Italian,Chinese,Vietnamese and a 24 hour Coffeee shop all serving great food. The Spa Cenvaree is excellent offering a wide range of treatments.
The adjoining shopping Mall has also been refurbished and is very convenient. The hotel is very close to Chatuchak Market and transport to the City Centre.
The staff are unfailing friendly and go the extra mile.
I will definitely go back again.

Agreeing with other reviews, this hotel is very good and usually has good rates. If you're at a convention here, or want easy access to Chatuchak weekend market, its fine. But for the rest of Bangkok, be very careful; its a long long way into town and to/from the airport (FYI a limo from the airport is around Bht1300/£35 one way. With Bangkok's famous traffic, downtown by taxi is out of the question. You can use the railway, but its a fair stroll and the weather can be iffy through a lot of the year. Apart from the shopping mall, there's little else nearby, though the hotel restaurants are generally good and reasonably priced. One or two niggles; your key card operates the room power, and it seems another card in the slot won't work, so everytime you come back to your room you have to reset all the lighting and air-conditioning because it defaults to 24C (which is winter heating for most of us!) The bar has nice cold beer, but only in half-pint glasses. The breakfast buffet is plentiful but the hot food isn't very hot (but they do have HP Sauce :). Summary; perfectly nice but unless you have a reason to be out in this part of town, choose somewhere else.
