“Location is a bonus”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2010

The hotel is somewhat worn but not that bad as some reviews suggest. I.e. this is a rather straight-forward hotel, definitely comfortable and clean, but not at any luxury level. Staff was always very helpful and professional.

I also used the fitness room: rather worn down and disappointing...

For a business location the place was fine. Price-value: probably a little expensive for what you get, but not bad as long as manage to book below USD 130.

For getting there from the airport I was hoping to get a hotel shuttle, but they did not offer any, so we went for a hotel limo, which was rather expensive (60 USD) but definitely worth it (air-conditioned, fast, safe).

I liked the hotel's location: the great mall next door gives you many food and shopping opportunities. And the train station was also a plus!

“excellent location but reception should be more customer oriented”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2010

location of the hotel is excellent in the center of the commercial area, so ideal for shopping. quite busy and overloaded, but all the malls are on walking distance, plenty of shops and massage boutique around the hotel.
the hotel itself is very good, nothing wow and trendy or Thai style, but large spacious rooms, nice swimming pool, good spa, and free internet in the rooms (which is quite rare in Thailand).
but the employees at the reception desk aren't helpful at all, neither friendly and smiling which is quite strange in Thailand where all people are so friendly. I've been in this hotel for 2 nights, one on my arrival to BKK before going to the islands, and one last night before leaving Thailand, and i had the same problem twice: first on my arrival, the travel agency assured me several times that i would have an early check in after an overnight flight, but when i arrived, they kept me waiting at reception 15 minutes before telling me that there was no room available before 2 PM (it was 9:30 AM and i didn't sleep for more than 24 hours). when i showed my disappointment they said there was a superior room available but if I pay an extra amount of approx 75 US $! when i refused and asked if i could at least have a coffee somewhere, nobody answered, and i ended up waiting at starbucks which is close to the hotel.
on my return for my last night, also the check in took almost half an hour, they didn't even apologyze for keeping me waiting. my flight next day was very early so i was supposed to check out before breakfast buffet opens, when i asked them if i can have my breakfast in the room, they said i have to pay an extra, i asked them to double check because i always stay in accor hotels and i know they don't over charge for breakfast in the room, but they kept saying no... and after one hour, they called me in the room to say they double checked and it was OK if i had it in the room... OK all those are maybe small details, and in general the hotel is very good, but they would gain a lot in being a little bit more professional

“Disappointing and freezing”

Stayed here as they had a cheap deal for that day. Usual decor and expensive mini-bar. No hairdryer, no changing room at the gorgeous pool and no bench in the toilet you had to use. Nice amenities in bathroom. They seem to have an ambient temperature for the whole hotel and you can only make your room COLDER than this. I had to get into bed I was so cold. Also on checking out we had to wait while they phoned husekeeping to check we hadn't nicked anything . Never had that anywhere else. Then we were accused of taking a water. Yu'd be daft to do this as 2 bottles of water are complimentary. Then we had to sign a form to say that the housekeeping report was wrong. Very unfriendly reception too. Good location near to many malls for food courts and shopping and right by the skytrain.

“Way overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2010

The regular rate for my stay was $125. However, I got an internet pre-paid special for $65 and booked the hotel because I wanted to be near all the malls.

The location is amazing. Also right next to a sky station. From the airport I was dropped of by a bus with only a 10 minute walk, so I saved on a taxi.

The hotel is very clean and has good service. But way overpriced. Bangkok is one of the most competitive cities in the world for hotels, and if you are paying the normal rate for this place you are nuts. I have stayed in 5 different hotels in Bangkok and this was by far the smallest room. The bed is also a little to firm for my back, but that's a personal choice. However the room is shockingly small by Bangkok standards. Now maybe they gave me the worst room because of the rate, I don't know. However, I booked the rate through a Novotel promotion. I would NEVER stay here for the regular rate with all the better choices in town.

The gym is very good though and always has someone on hand to watch over everybody and give help if needed. The pool is also decent.

It's a nice hotel and I would stay here again, but not for over $100 a night.

The hotel is really great - walk over to the malls or to the many shopping galleries, or take public transportation to virtually anywhere in bangkok. The pool also allows you to mix business and pleasure!
