“Well positioned with easy access”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2011

Just back from 3 days in Holiday inn Ploenchit Road having spent 10 days in Krabi, We booked a club room and made good use of the club lounge, the check in was quick and breakfast though not as extensive as in the main restaurant was a pleasant relaxing start to the day. The hotel is ideally placed close to the BTS rail system which is cheap and frequent. the sky walk between the two rail stations means you can access the major shopping centers without having to brave the weather or traffic jams.
The hotel's city center location means that the sound of traffic can be a bit noisy at night but nothing too serious. A minor criticism would be children running around the executive lounge, I would hate to be there on business and have to wait for the children to finish playing games on the computer whilst i needed to use the computer/ printer or have a business conversation. I think the time is coming for hotels to have a separate child friendly lounge away from the executive floor.

Stayed for 2 nights...perfect location for shopping. Amarin Plaza, Gaysorn, Central are all walking distance. Well connected by skywalk. Great breakfast, and one free dinner (not too much variety for vegetarians though). The hotel service is great, very helpful staff, and extremely courteous. Standard room...no complaints!! Will definitely choose this hotel for our next Bangkok trip.

I've stayed 2 nights at the hotel. The room and bed was comfy. Bathroom is clean. And there was a vast no. of channels on the tv.
The location was great. BTS Chit Lom Station is just a stone throw away. Amarin Shopping centre is just opposite Holiday Inn with a 24hours Macdonalds.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, always have a smiling face.
Platinum shopping centre is a 15-20min walk from there. You can go there by a short cut through Intercontinential Hotel's shopping avenue, link to Grayson shopping mall and then link to Centerpoint shopping centre. And a short walk from Centerpoint will arrive at Platinum. (Centerpoint, Grayson and Intercontinental are linked)
It would be much more convenient rather than crossing the heavily traffic roads.

They have free public internet access but only at the lobby area. (You need to get the password from the reception)
They have umbrellas to lend if its raining outside. Nice touch.

Do mention to taxi drivers that you are heading to Holiday Inn (beside Chit Lom station) if not you will be taken to Holiday Inn Silom by default. (Through own experience)

So far, it has been a great experience for me.

Did four days vacation followed by two days business, staying at this hotel.

Good location on Sukumvit Road, right next to the MRT stop, good sized clean rooms, decent breakfast. Definatelywould use again.

Despite the price difference with its upscale next door neighbor, the Bangkok Intercontinental, the Holiday Inn Bangkok is a classy alternative and a particularly good deal if you're traveling solo. For the luxury it offers, the room rates are very reasonable. The staff is very gracious and accommodating. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious and elegantly designed. Despite the fact that my room was facing busy Ploenchit Road and the elevated train station, the room's excellent soundproofing kept the room noise-free. The hotel also offers classy and efficient transportation service to the airport.

Of course the biggest plus is the hotel's location as it is walking distance to the best shopping malls in Bangkok - Central World, and further down the road, the fabulous Siam Paragon. This hotel is highly recommended.

I usually stay at the Intercontinental nearby but decided to try Holiday Inn Bangkok this time, and I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are comfortably, the bed is well above average and the bathrooms nice, with a good shower. Service was very good with helpful and knowledgeable staff. The location is close to perfect with just 2 min walk to the BTS.

One down-side is that the hotel charges 600THB per 24 hour period for internet, which seems quite steep. However, all in all I consider this property to offer a very good value for money compared to many other hotels in Bangkok.
