“Really good room, great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

We stayed first time in this hotel, we booked club room with prepaid room charges.
When we arrived the service is really 5-star, checked-in on 37FL which is exclusive and efficient.
Room is very clean, spacious bathroom, beds are very comfortable as well as pillows.
Large Flat Screen TV with many channels. Niceview of the city but away from the noise as on the 32 Floor. Very good surprise that we were given the corner room with great views of the city.
Breakfast in the Clud lounge is a bit limited and staff overoccupied, but you can eat in the M floor as well where is a wide selection of food. Nice taste too.
Tea time and happy cocktail hour in the club lounge is fabulus, good view and good environment. Really enjoyed a lot there.

A small accident when we found the housekeeping staff left their cleaning cloth in our room, but it was immediately attended and solved with some compensation. We would not complain this but wish this kind of thing could not happen again as it is a 5-star hotel.

Very happy experience of this hotel and great location as convenient to go anywhere by BTS nearby. Major shopping malls and supermarket very near.

We would surely return if next in Bangkok and recommand to friends too.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are quieter and with nice views.

Probably the best service of any hotel I've stayed at in Bangkok. Even if only one person is ahead of you at check-in, another staff member appears to serve you. The staff was always smiling and helpful, and made me feel as if I was a regular in their most expensive suite. Other hotels should learn from InterContinental's staff training and evaluation.
-Good breakfast buffet. Plentiful and had variety.
-Great gym, large and offered classes. To bad it had a small pool, not designed for lap swimmers.

Now the bad.
-Noisy. The windows are single paned and exterior noise is an issue if you face CentralWorld or are on a low floor.
-Old beds. My first bed was concave in. I lifted my blanket to find the bed sagging badly. I changed rooms and the bed was only marginally better.

The InterContinental is one of the older properties in the area and I get the feeling that it was a super luxurious hotel back in the day. I really like the hotel's service and amenities, and wish they could put some of their attention into the physical items; beds, new sound reducing windows, higher quality tv, etc. to match their high level of service.

Room Tip: Exterior noise is a big problem. Ask for the side not facing CentralWorld and a high floor.

Had a fantastic stay ,from the reception to housekeeping ,all treated us with a smile.very helpful and effient .very central location.close to entertainment ,shopping malls .Roof top pool was relaxing after a hectic shopping day.hotel restaurants was good ,catering for halaal foods, though breakfast was a bit dissapointing ,due to a small halaal menu.amazingly they have a lot of muslim tourist.highlite of breakfast was the chilled fresh coconutmilk.

Room Tip: choose rooms on the higher floor ,as the view is nice and it shuts out the noise.

Room size was good, location excellent as right by train station and a couple malls. Convenient for finding good food and shopping. Our room didn't smell (as mentioned by a previous reviewer), and the bathroom seemed well appointed. It was all in all a very standard room. Nothing outstanding, but nothing to gripe about either.

The pool on the rooftop was nice, and our kids had fun, but as others said, it is small. Service from the bar there was so so. Breakfast time was a mess. The hotel was pretty full, and when we showed up at 10am for breakfast (breakfast goes until 10:30a) at the main breakfast restaurant, there was a line of about 20 people ahead of us waiting for a table. When we went up to the Club level (more on this later) for breakfast, they were equally busy, tho we could still get a table. But service was nonexistent. At the Club level breakfast, there is a small buffet and you can also order ala carte off a menu. The 2 ladies serving were clearly overwhelmed. Hard to get coffee, plates, cups, and food kept running out, and we waited a long time before finally standing up and intercepting someone to take our food order. A real disappointment.

The biggest disappointment, however, was that I booked here instead of the Renaissance across the street because the Intercontinental would guarantee my double queen room, which we need because we have 3 small children. The price was slightly higher too. Despite my notifying them that we would be arriving in the wee hours of the morning (and paying for the full night) and please don't give away our room (even tho I prepaid for the room), when we arrived, we were notified that the hotel was full and that they did NOT have a room with 2 queen beds as I had reserved with a guarantee. They apologized that it was absolutely their mistake, then asked if I'd accept a double twin room, with nothing else offered. When I asked about an upgrade to a suite for their mistake, they said they were full and a double twin was the best they could do, and offered us no charge on an extra cot. SERIOUSLY? After negating our GUARANTEED room, they wouldn't charge us on the extra cot. Gee, extremely generous of you, Intercontinental. After pushing them further, they upgraded us to Club level benefits, but not all that useful when I already have a full day's tour booked, so free drinks in the Club lounge can't really be enjoyed.

What is the point of a GUARANTEED room, if there is no repercussion to the hotel for failing the guarantee? What does a guarantee mean then? It makes the customer feel better, but upon reflection, it really has no value. I feel I should have been refunded for at least one night to make it right.

Right across from the famous four sided budha (literally translation)
Convenient because right in front of BTS walk bridge and close to Big C, Central World, some night market shopping etc.

Average because the hotel is dated as a result shower stall etc starting to show age with mold etc. Pool outdoor .. more for playing then lap swimming. Gym locker room modest though very nice jacuzzi

Service average ... right across the way from holiday inn ... if on a budget I'd probably recommend staying there instead

Ps... if you are sensitive to smell beware ... their rooms have a very distinctive and IMHO not so pleasant smell

We spent 4 days at the Bangkok intercontinental and loved it. The hotel is extremely centrally located -about 5 to 10 min walk from the big malls. Apart for accessibility to the malls and the sky train, Langsuan road is also about 5 min away which is lovely to saunter on and has nice restaurants and spas.

We opted for the intercon given the rating as tripadvisor rating as the luxury hotel winner and were not disappointed. The hotel staff is extremely efficient and helpful. The breakfast was elaborate and excellent and would particularly note the service levels of the staff that handled the breakfast - the hotel was completely full the days we were there but the service was warm, impeccable and efficient.

The hotel building itself  is not very new though is maintained very well. The rooftop pool is not very large but  has a nice bar and great views of the city.

During our trip we happened to drive past the other hotels that we were considering including the lebua and banyan tree and were extremely happy with our decision to stay at the intercon given the location.

Room Tip: Avoid a room with a connecting door

The highlight of my Bangkok trip. I love staying at Intercontinental. Surely one of the best hotels I've ever stayed. Luxury, cozy, comfortable are some of the words that define this hotel. I love everything but the swimming pool. It's too small for this hotel, although the rooftop experience is amazing. Loved the breakfast. Perfect location, very nearby skywalk and everything you need. Erawan Square just across this hotel, Gaysorn is beside..Central World only 5 mins walk. Overall, flawless!

Room Tip: Double room has two queen-sized beds!
