We stayed 3 nights 16th-19th Oct 2005, and were extremely disappointed overall with the hotel. This was our third time to Bangkok and thought we would have a change and stay here instead of where we stayed the last two trips. But what a mistake!! We can not understand how the hotel is classed 4* as all public areas were extremely run-down looking and shabby.Everywhere there were chipped and broken marble floor tiling and no where looked very clean. The only restaurant open was the one off of reception, as they had decided to refurb all the others at the same time! The toilets next to this restaurant were dreadful, I've seen better in a transport cafe. Liked the addition of the towel left around the sink to mop up the leaks!!
I imagine that 20+ years ago this was a lovely hotel and probably when all the refurbs are finished it may be again, but at the moment it is in a tired state.
The bedrooms were ok, nothing special, abit dark due to the dark navey carpet and dark drab bedding. On the plus side a very comfy, massive, soft bed though.
Pretty much the only excellent comment we can find is that it was in a great central location but if this is the sort of hotel you should expect, we'll stick to the Amari Atrium next time, as it is bright, modern and classy at a slightly cheaper price, albeit further out!!
