We recently stayed in Anantara Riverside during our recent visit to Bangkok.
All our family members need their daily dose of tea/coffee and for this reason we were recommended this place for our afternoon tea.
The ambience of the place looks like an English home and with groups of armchairs and settees placed in a circular seating. It is a cosy and nice seating for families to chat away and relax as you enjoy your tea. The other areas of the restaurant look like an open market with tables displaying variety of breads, biscuits, chocolates and other pastries. One can walk around the restaurant and pick any item you like in a basket or plate. Once you have chosen you items you can take it to the main counter and they will arrange the items and heat them as needed and send it to your table. Drinks and other ale-carte items including western and local dishes can be ordered from a menu while seated at your table.
The variety of pastries we ordered was good in general. We did sample some local delights as well including curry noodles.
For drinks if you are into milk tea, do try the Thai Milk tea which can be a tad too sweet (in which case ask them to give you the sugar separately. Otherwise there are a variety of teas and coffee to be sampled.
The service was good with the staff willing to cater to our requirements and adjust the beverages to our liking. Overall it was a good place for our family to get together and enjoy each other’s company while we indulged in afternoon tea.
