“Average hotel with friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

We stayed at this hotel one night before flying back to London. It is very close to the airport so the noise may be a bit annoying but it doesn't last all night. The stuff was very friendly, they have no lift but they take care of your bags. We had a problem with hot water and there was a lizard on the wall but they fixed the problem soon and the lizard was taken away. They run an airport but shuttle every hour.

Very close to the airport. Excellent price. Basic room (for $22) - but clean. Staff was nice. I tried to get an upgrade, but they nicely said no - I can handle that as they were firm but nice.

There were no American-style restaurants (i.e A/C, English menu, etc.) within walking distance. We went for a short walk though and found a 7-11 (snacks) and a bunch of local street-type restaurants. Pad Thai for $1.00 for me and my wife got a vegetable dish (no noodles) for about $2.00. The Pad Thai was so good and cheap I bought a second one on the way home – equally good.

Staff at hotel were nice – they did a wake-up call and even sent someone up to our room when they noticed we were leaving and helped us with the luggage.

Just remember – this is a basic hotel. The shower is right next to the toilet in the basic room – so the toilet gets wet when you shower. If you don’t expect all the amenities of a U.S. hotel for the $22 you might pay, you’ll be happy.

Room Tip: ** For the free airport pickup - follow their directions to go a certain gate/door. You'll find...

Cheap, clean, friendly staff and very good food!
Me and a friend stayed for one night and we were pleasently surprised by the friendly staff and excellent food.
The room was clean and modern.
The bath room is clean and everything looks new and shiny. ;) Would book again!

The staff of this hotel is extremely courteous and helpful (carrying all our bags up and down the stairs). The room is nice and clean. The adjoining café is nice and offer light dinner fare (I had a tasty veggie stir-fry). The bathroom isn't very modern but it's functional.

Apparently, you have to reserve your spot on the shuttle because it runs once an hour and is quite popular. I took it at 3 am and I wasn't the only one needing at ride at that time!

The hotel is a 15-minute walk to the train station through a neighbourhood with narrow streets (few cars) but a lot of stray dogs. I would not bring a young child through that neighbourhood at night.

I stayed for 1 night at this hotel, as my plane landed in Bangkok after 1am.
The hotel sits in a nice local neighbourhood, 5 mn away from the airport, and they provide free return transfer to the airport.
The rooms are simple but trendy.
Good value for money.

We paid £12 for the room and you do pay for what you get!!!! The rooms were not like the pictures, it was smelly and the bathroom was disgusting. There were holes in the ceiling and a random hole in the wall which let water in.

When we arrivesf at the airport we got the shuttle which took us directly to the hotel free of charge. We had enquired about a taxi and it was going to cost 2200 bahts 1 way so it was worth the £12 for the room, just for the free shuttles!!!!!

The location isn't great and the walk to the nearest train station took is through what can only be described as "death alleyway"...we didn't feel safe. The train into town was a nightmare...don't do it! The ticket cost 10p each, however a 40 minute journey took 1 hour and 40 minutes!!!!

If you don't plan on going into Bangkok then this is perfect. I wouldn't suggest walking around the area really so be prepared to eat in the hotel. Also there isn't a lift so it is often loud with people dragging their cases up and down the stairs. The bell boys are more than happy to help you if you ask though!

Dear Guest,

I am very much appreciated that you've shared your experience during your stay. I am really sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant stay with us. Your concern about the freshness in the bathroom has been assigned to our housekeeping team to take a special care on cleaning.

For the room , there are 3 room types in our property 1) Standard room 2) Deluxe Room 3) Suite room. The standard room are featured in our old wing while the deluxe and suite room are featured in our new extension building. The picture might misleading for the guest to understand that we have only 1 room type.

After I've investigated about the taxi charge, I found that the price was a quote for a limousine service that our reception staff offered for you as a private one day city tour. This might be some error communication and lead to misunderstood for the quote.

We also offered a free shuttle bus to the airport rail link station for the guest who want to explore the Bangkok City. The journey would take about 40 mins to get to Phraya Thai Station and cost about 40THB per person. The train that you might took was probably the old public train service which normally take more time than the new train (Airport Rail Link).

The guest comfort is our pride, we would try our best to make your stay pleasant. Lastly, I would like to thank you again for your comment. The feedback will help us to improve our service.

Lastly, I am really hope to welcome you back again and would be happy to upgrade you to our best room. Please e-mail me at nattakan@phoenixhotelbangkok.com,

Best regards,

Nattakan C.

Food great, people helpful and good service. Close to airport. Clean rooms. Very thin walls. Only complaint is if you are staying cause you have an early flight the next day, you have people arriving at all hours continuously and are very inconsiderate with regards to noise towards people staying here. Oh, and plaines flying directly over you every 2 minutes all day everyday. Not an ideal place for catching up on sleep from jet lag or early flights. In the middle of no where and certainly wouldn't go out in the local neighbourhood at night.

Dear Guest,

I am very much appreciated your comment during your last visit at The Phoenix Hotel.

I will share your comment on our staff as the compliment from the guest. For your concern on the noise, we will try our best to minimize the noise from our late night arrival guest to enhance sleeping quality for our upcoming guests.

While the noise of the aircrafts is louder than the previous quarter (Jul - Oct) as they change take-off direction.

Best regards,

Nattakan C.
