“Close to the action .......but not too close”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

Just 15 minutes plus a short walk from the International Airport, 2 minutes from the MRT Underground station and 1 stop from the Sukhemvit and all the bars, nightlife, shopping and restaurants that you could want. There is nothing imediately outside the hotel, so you will need the public transport. The hotel is clean and functional with free wifi however I was woken each morning by noises staff and departing guests, earplugs would be a good idea. The breakfast was decidedly average.

Good location to access the airport express shuttle link just across the road and the city via sunway which is located on the corner, it just far enough away from the hustle and bustle Bangkok but one stop away from it all.

Good room good staff and service was excellent i would rate this like a novotel but half the price.

You will never go wrong staying here, will be staying here again at the end of our trip.

Was there for 3 nights and loved it. Used a lot the MRT (very close) but also the airport link (very close but a bid of walking necessary also because the station has a bid a strange layout).
Room was great, breakfest ok, service also left no reason to complain. Will definitely use it again next time in BKK.

The hotel is comfortable, tastefully and recently decorated. The room was small but very efficiently laid out. It was really comfortable and clean, if a little clinical, with AC and satellite TV.

It is about 250m to the Makkasan station for Airport Link and about 30m from the MRT Metro station (Phetchaburi). This was perfect for me for an early start to the international airport. But there is almost nothing immediately around the hotel in terms of shops or restaurants etc. You will need to take the MRT.

If arriving by taxi make sure you have the address in Thai or the phone number of the hotel - it can be hard to for a taxi driver to find. It is tucked away in a little side street.

The staff were really friendly and spoke good English. There were free to use PCs in reception for internet access.

All in all good value and would not be out of place as a good 2-3 star hotel in Europe.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Unico the second last night of our 3 week Laos/Thailand vacation in a premier room for about 40 EUR including breakfast.

In comparison to the Park Plaza we had booked for the following night for 83 USD excluding breakfast, the Unico was clearly the better deal.

Located perfectly in 3 mins walking distance from Makassan station (and, thus, the airport link), the Unico is a very decent place to stay with no frills. Our room was spacious, though we felt the hotel had missed the chance to do anything with that space, or in ther words: it looked a bit empty. A bit more furniture or design elements would have given the room a much better feel in exchange for a minor investment.

Anyway, the bathroom was as good as the one at the more expensive Park Plaza and the bed was above average, though a bit on the hard side. TV reception and channel selection was good. The AC was a bit loud, though. The breakfast was nothing to write home about, but okay.

If your looking for a very decent stay at 2 to 3-star Western European standard, you can't to anything wrong with this place. However, If you're looking for a bit of romance or a homely feel, spend 20 USD more and go for one of the discounted 4 star hotels in BKK.

Hotel design is well thought off, living up to expectation. Very comfortable bed, toilet floor comes with anti-slip tiles, waters do not over flow due to good design during baths. Hotel staff are able to communicate in English, attentive and helpful - fantastic service that may not be found in other hotels. Even the hotel security would assist in getting taxis, something not expected in budget hotels. Location wise, the Phetchaburi MRT is right in front of the hotel, could connect to BTS in next station at Sukhumvit while the airport express is nearby for easy connectivity via airport. The only downside is the design of the doors. Banging of the doors heard especially in the morning, should consider adding some form of noise barrier bumpers to cut down the noise level. Other than that, everything else exceeds customer expecation. Thumbs up!!!

Place is clean and decent, staff is friendly and honest. all the rooms are wifi free... get to do my last minute research around bangkok.. after a long day shopping, jacuzzi at the 7th floor is the best place to hang around, but open from 7am - 7pm.. 1 of the place you see sunset while relaxing at the jacuzzi pool.. and there is no shuttle service to the airport as airport link is just beside too.. due to we have few huge luggage to carried with us.. took a cab to Don Mueng airport cost about 102thb by meter.

Location wise, quite a distance from those shopping area. etc
(Platinum mall, MBK, Siam Paragon n other).. but there's subway link just beside..
if going by cab, price range around 100thb - 150thb try to bargain around or go by meter
(normally taxi driver will ask for 300thb) most of the taxi driver doesn't know this place..
so bring the address card with you when you going out.

We thank you for your valuable comments. At present the Authorities are building the concourse walkway which will connect the Airport Link station to the main road intersection in front of the hotel. Once that is made, the entrance to the Airport Link station concourse would be only 80 mts from the hotel. This should be ready in 6 months time. The area around the hotel is being redeveloped and many new condominiums and plazas are coming up.
In the meantime, if you use the subway station - located right in front of the hotel, there is Terminal 21 or Central Plaza Rama 9 just one stop away in either direction where you can find plenty of shopping , food etc.
You can also take a canal boat to Pratunam shopping center. Again the boat pier is only 100 mts from the hotel. On our side we will continue to work hard to provide you with the best value for money accomodation and look forward to seeing you again.
