Central shopping mall at Rama 9 is one of the latest shopping malls to open in the metropolis of Bangkok. As with other Asian countries shopping malls are immensely popular in Thailand.
Stepping into the mall the first thing that hits you is the cool temperature which offers respite from the heat and humidity of Bangkok's tropical climate. The malls only been open 15 months so everything is new and immaculate, it's ultra clean and is a great place to come to while away a few hours. It's also an option in the rainy season when it's too wet to do outdoor activities.
There's 9 main floors in all. Highlights are, the 12 screen cinema, Fitness First health club and full size ice skating rink on the top floor(7th) The sixth and seventh floor are all occupied by restaurants and food halls. The mall is dominated by Robinsons department store which occupies six floors. The MRT (underground) has a station at Rama 9 and there is a direct entrance to the basement of the mall when leaving the station which is very convenient.
There's a Tops supermarket in the basement with a food court outside which offers staple Thai dishes at budget prices. Well worth a visit, especially for mall adherents.
