“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

We stayed here for one night after arriving into Bangkok from the UK before flying onto Phuket. We were greeted by friendly happy staff who offered us a free upgrade to a one bedroom suite as it was our first time in Bangkok which was a lovely suprise after hours of travelling. The room was perfect, the colours were cool and calm, the room was decorated beautifully, and the fittings were perfect. The bed was the most comfy bed I have ever slept in. The room has a small kitchen, dining table and chairs, sofa and tv and a balcony in the living area (amazing views). In the bedroom there is a large, cosy bed and another tv. The bathroom is HUGE! With a bath, large shower, sink and vanity area. We ate at Mandopop which was beautiful and modern however the food was not spectacular. It was chinese cuisine which we werent familiar with so prehaps that was just our taste.

Breakfast is served in Cafe Claire, a bright cafe that looks like it belongs in Paris. Continental breakfast including fruit, yogurt, pastries, is laid out as you walk in. When you sit down the friendly staff offer the menu. I had the waffle tower, yummy, and my boyfriend had the cooked breakfast which inlcluded an egg, hot dog style sausage and grilled tomato. Not like a full english but what can you expect in Thailand! Check out was quick and easy and they arranged a taxi to the airport for us.

I would highly recommend this hotel and think it is fantastic value for money.

We had a park view junior suite for 2 nights while visiting Bangkok, and to sum it up this was the best hotel we have ever stayed in!

It was absolutely immaculate, suite was bigger than we could have ever hoped for and bathroom was almost as big as the suite! Every little detail was taken care of, fresh towels daily, nightly turn down service, fantastic room service and even soap powder was provided for our washing. Wifi was provided throughout the hotel, even at pool side, and when we required taxis the doormen had them there in seconds, ensured they knew where we wanted to go and that the meter was running so we were not paying rip off prices unlike when we caught random taxis on the street in town.

Hotel all in all well exceeded our expectations and we would have no hesitation in booking here again. Staff here were 11 out of 10 and added to the excellent stay we had.

Stayed here for several nights to kick off our month long Asia trip. Taxi driver from airport struggled to find the place (even though I provided written address) and took us to the Oriental Mandarin to begin with, that's how relatively new this place is (and to be fair, there are MANY hotels with similar names). Wireless Rd appears to have a Thai name, too...which also may have thrown the driver off (to management OR, perhaps provide the thai address in your listing?).
Getting here and area: situated along a tree lined street, next door to US and Dutch Consular residences, and the US Embassy, park like setting, green with waterways and bird song. Walking distance to Sukhumvit Rd; if you are taking BTS, the closest station is Nana, and if you have a lot of luggage, you are far better off taking taxi to/from airport. Lumphini Lake park to the south (walking distance). The room we stayed in (12floor) looked out over green and was extremely quiet, which is unheard of in this city. Across the street is a "pop up" market; street food and various clothing items. Cheap! Also across the street for those who can't go without their Starbucks fix, is a store tucked into the giant complex (far left side, next to (gulp) Burger King), hard to see from the street.
Amenities: 2 resto on site - cafe Claire (french bistro, $6 coffee, and if you opted in for breakfast with stay, where you will find a somewhat limited (marginally better than Continental breakfast) buffet. Mandopop is the second resto, I've rated both these separately if you check their reviews on TA). Gym was typical for hotels, decent and had sufficient cardio equipment, one rack of free weights, but the one cable machine is fairly useless (techno gym) - 24 hours. There is a pool (under cover but open) with limited hours. Apparently there is another pool on a higher floor, but is for the Residents, as this is a dual purpose building with units for sale as well as hotel guests (with separate elevators).
Staff: very pleasant and can't do enough to make your stay a pleasant one.
Rooms: we had a City view with balcony, but it was also a corner so we had different perspectives. Glass did a good job of keeping noise out. Suite had 3 rooms - bedroom, bath (it was large enough to be a room unto itself), living/dining/kitchenette. Spacious and comfortable, 2 air con units that were so good that we had to turn one room off at night. 2 TVs, large clothing storage, room safe, writing paper, bath amenities great, super water pressure and hot showers. Fridge, microwave, coffee press, basic stock of cutlery and dishes from wine to warming up take out.
Overall, a very pleasant stay here, and would definitely recommend it. Cheaper coffee and breakfast elsewhere.

as the name says it is a residence hotel of which there are a few in this area meaning you do not get the big fancy lobby of some hotels but all the services are there concierge etc. the rooms here are beautiful, all the high end amenities, excellent service from the staff. Contrary to some other comments we like this location. You can walk to all the big malls, Siam MBK etc and walk to a train station nearby. Unless you want a hotel with a river view this is the place

No complaints whatsoever, from the great reception on arrival, to the slippers being thoughtfully laid out on the 2nd room service visit of the day; and very well located for virtually everything. Too much of a challenge to find anything to complain about here.

The Oriental Residence is quite new and, probably as a result, seems a well kept secret in Bangkok - most taxi drivers have never heard of it.

It is beautifully appointed and the one bedroom apartments (we stayed in a corner apartment on the 8th floor) are brilliant. 70 sqm in size with all conveniences including a fully equipped kitchen. There was a deal we took offering 3 nights for the price of two, which made the overall rate very competitive. As mentioned by other reviewers, the pillows are outstanding and the beds comfortable. The rooms are also well maintained, However there is a lot of traffic noise, some of which is clearly audible at night from the 8th floor.

It is beside the US Embassy, but a little remote from shopping and restaurants. There is a small food court across the road at the Conrad, but for the best food courts - the Paragon and MBK are our favourites - and shopping you will need to walk or take a taxi. There is a shuttle bus available to the nearest Skytrain stations, Chidlom and Ploen Chit.

Breakfast offers a very limited choice and its the same every day. It is expensive for what is provided so I strongly recommend you eat out.

The staff are friendly and helpful throughout.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors may suffer less traffic noise at night, but the beds are really very comf...

After two weeks work in rural Thailand, Oriental Residence was just the 5 star pampering we needed. Room was comfy, the TV swivelled around for ease of viewing, room service was quick, a lovely big bath, and we even had a pillow menu of all things... very decadent. Two nights down time holed up in luxury... very nice. Just one tiny little thing... two small bottles of water per day for two people was not adequate, although they were beautifully wrapped in special bottle bags. Staff happily brought us more water, but perhaps there should be more in the rooms for us thirsty foreigners. Regardless, we will be back at the next opportunity. The Gibsons.
