“Elegance and Style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

From the moment you pull up and encounter the style, elegance and efficiency of the reception staff you know that you are onto a good thing. The rest certainly did not disappoint with well set out rooms, great service and great meals. We have found the hotel we will return to when next in Bangkok.

An excellently appointed hotel that sparkles with the 'newness' of a 12month old property and delivers exceptional service and an oasis of tranquility from the craziness of Bangkok. It is located in downtown Bangkok in the Foreign embassy district (sandwiched between the US and Netherlands embassies) so a little further than most if you wanted a quick passage to the Grand Palace for example but having experienced several gridlocked and laborious taxi journeys I am not sure such a passage exists! That said taxis are frequent and the hotel runs a free shuttle to nearby train stops every half hour.
We travelled with 2 smaller kids(4 and 2) and whilst the hotel is not specifically designed for families and has a more boutique feel to it there is a great outdoor swimming pool (shaded) on the 4th floor and a playroom.
The gym(if that is your thing) is exceptional with all the latest Technogym equipment hat synchs to your iPod and you can burn off the kcals from your Thai Green Curry the night before in absolute comfort overlooking the park.
The rooms are spacious and the beds incredibly comfortable - we stayed in a suite and had everything you could want.
We had breakfast once in Cafe Claire of our 3 day stay and it was very tasty but perhaps lacked a broader range of options hat ou might be more used to in lager hotels. Other mornings we took a 10 min stroll to Dean and Deluca for great coffee and muffins for a fraction of the price.
Overall we left after a wholly positive and relaxed stay and would certainly recommend this property whether it is a business, couples or families trip. A stand out in the competitive and wonderfully hectic capital of Thailand!

This hotel is a wonderful residential place with everything one might need for a good rest. We stayed in a two-bedroom and two bathroom suit with a spacious living room and an equipped kitchen. Large baskets of fresh fruits and delicious sweets surprised the kids each day of our stay. The stuff was most helpful and attentive. The pool area and the gym are a great place for recreation.
But
The hotel is too far from the main attractions of the town and not appropriate for a city tour start having in mind the awful traffic of Bangkok.

Recently stayed at Oriental residence for 4 nights.
- Staff were very knowledgable and were able to find answers to every question.
- Rooms were immaculate and clean
- Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, extremely spacious with a huge bathroom.
- One of the most comfortable beds i've ever slept in.
- Pool area is very private and secluded and gives you a chance to unwind (Try a Mai tai by the pool).
- Excellent value for a 5 star property of this standard.
-Cafe claire and mandopop were also good food options, maybe a little on the pricey side, but still fantastic. Try the squid ink linguini at cafe claire
-Rooms were extremely quiet, allowing a good nights sleep.
-Its located in the embassy area, but close to train stations and taxi's are very cheap into main bangkok town (we didnt really leave the hotel much, as it provided everything we needed though)
-Shopping centre located across the road (conrad towers), which allows you to buy food, coffee's, alcohol and other supplies if you want to take advantage of the room kitchen.

Highly recommend this hotel to everyone, its seriously rare to find a hotel of high standard with a great price tag. The best hotel I have ever stayed in.

Before reading my brief review it's important to understand who we are and what we are looking for, to see if it relates to your requirements.

We where on a stop over and first trip to Bangkok before going to Koh Samui, we where going to take in some of the local scene and do some shopping, I like cities but love getting out of them too. Bangkok is manic and always will be whatever hotel you stay in and you do have to travel to some things no matter how good a location your staying at, again this does not relate to the hotel. We are late twenties and have a good budget, like nice things but won't be over charged either, I like things done properly but don't need to be fussed over.

I can genuinely say this is the best City centre hotel I have stayed at, it was casual yet 100% correct, perfectly presented and friendly. It had the right balance between a business hotel and catering for tourists. The rooms where great, all amenities, coffee, ironing board, salts for the bath, bottled water, umbrellas every detail. Breakfast is good, and ideally suited for someone wanting something quick before going out and about. The pool is lovely, we only wanted it for a quick freshen up, it's outside but covered and in the shade so not the best pool if you are looking for a pure leisure holiday but perfect for city centre chill out in between events.

We checked out and came back end of the day and was no problem going to use the shower areas and changing rooms by the pool before going onwards to koh samui after along day.

If you want a taxi which you will just get one off the road, the staff really try there best but its just easier to get your own but just have your wits about you.

Really sanctuary from the city and we wished we spent more time in the hotel but was so much going on in bangkok

when we arrive the hotel, it was already 11pm and we were so tired. But they staff seemed to know what we think and arranged a room for us very quickly. It was surprised to know that they have even prepared a traditional "Thai style mango sticky rice" for us on the dinning table. It was definitely an addition to a warm welcome.

The hotel room are very spacious, it even has a mini kitchen which has all the pot and kitchenware you needed. One minor problem is that it doesnt has any salt or oil for us to cook. So that only very simple things like toast breads, coffee, boils egges and instant noodles can be cooked.

Room was tidy and clean, very cozy to live in. But the pillows are too soft to sleep with. I would be happier if they have a range of choice of pillows hardness inside the rooms. Staff are very friendly and helpful as well. Whenever I was standing in the lobby for more than one minute, they will come closer and ask if I need assistance. Very attentive. Another good thing I really appreciated is that on my friend's birthday, they have prepared some cute macaroons in the fridge. and to my surprised, they are yummy. Thank you.

Our room view is Limipini park which is nice in such a busy city. The location is good. Its like 300-500m away from the closest BTS station ( ChitLom station).

Generally Its a very good hotel that I would recommend to my friends.

My husband, two-year-old daughter and I stayed here for 13 nights in December 2012 / January 2013 (so a belated review) and had a wonderful time. The hotel staff are super friendly and made a huge effort with our (at times) difficult toddler!

We stayed in a spacious one-bedroom corner suite with well-equipped kitchenette and great park views. From our balcony we could spot a gigantic Monitor lizard taking a daily dip in the pond below, much to our daughter's delight.

The main pool is nice, although the water was freezing when we were there, and there is a shallow, covered kids' pool tucked away in the corner. The bar service there was a little patchy, but not a major problem, and this may since have been rectified.

We had room service on a few occasions, and the food was great. We ate once at Café Claire, but we were not impressed by our meal and the service was poor (slow and they got our order wrong).

That said, however, we would certainly return to the Oriental Residence, and have recommended it to friends.
