“Perfection in Bangkok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

The Oriental Residence was our first hotel in a four week tour of Thailand, and it set the standard for all other hotels we stayed in. It is an absolutely fantastic place to stay. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you feel like an honoured guest. The staff are wonderful, they make you feel valued and special, and every need is attended to immediately. We had a corner suite and it was perfect. Someone has obviously thought about the decor, furnishings, bed and bed linens and they have got it absolutely right, quality is key in everything, even the tea bags! It is quiet, relaxing, luxurious, comfortable, and just a perfect place to stay. They manage to create a special, intimate atmosphere where personal service is key. The staff training must be amazing! They were all, without exception, brilliant. The location was great for us, a short walk (less than 10mins) to the sky train and just over 10 mins to the canal ferry, which we found great for getting about. There are some superb restaurants in walking distance. It was very good value too, far less than other hotels, where the service is impersonal and the whole experience not as good. Fantastic - and should we ever return to Bangkok we will always stay here.

Room Tip: Corner suite was wonderful, airy and light.

The room was very specious and modern with full amenities in the bathroom. The over size sofa with soft tone color made the environment very peaceful after a long day of meeting. It made us fell going back to our own home.
The sticky rice and mangoe was excellent and considered a Thai's charm.

The rooms are really huge and the decoration is very tasteful, the concierge staff is amazing and have very good recommandations. theonly problem is the location a little far from the metro and a one way street.

Dear ricky d,

Thank you for your recent review of our hotel. I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Words such as yours truly mean so much to us and I am delighted to share them with our entire team, especially with the Concierge team.

Regarding to the road that we are on, Wireless Road is a two way road and the most beautiful road in Bangkok with lots of trees.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back sometime in the very near future.

We were extremely pleased with everything about this hotel....the location, the friendly and very helpful staff, the luxurious and very comfortable rooms as well as the wonderful little on site cafe. Little perks like all the free bottled water you want certainly add to the welcoming spirit of this hotel.

When I first came across this hotel on Trip Advisor, I was surprised by the uniform excellent reviews. Even more surprising was that I had never heard of this hotel before, unlike the famous Mandarin Oriental, the Peninsula, or the Shangri La (two of which I have stayed at). I looked at the photographs included and thought that the place looked a bit like a long term business hotel, essentially a spruced up condo with business amenities. Luckily, I decided to try it out anyway and now understand why everyone raves about this place -- and so do I. The service is absolute first class -- from the moment your taxicab rounds the cirular driveway, several doormen open your doors, greet you, and whisk your luggage into the lobby. In the lobby there is no line waiting at a reception bar; you are invited to sit down in a comfortable chair while a friendly professional staff member comes to greet you and take your passport so that they may check you in and return with your keys and other documentation. The only other hotel that I have experienced this level of service was at the Raffles Hotel D'Angkor, which cost 3X as much.

We got the Executive Deluxe guest room (most basic room offered) which was spectacular. The website photographs simply do not do the rooms justice. The level of detail and wonderful furnishings from the marble bathroom to the plush silken sheeted bed to the large fridge and microwave are absolutely exquisite. Someone took a lot of time and attention to detail to get this room right; the bathroom amenities are first class and plentiful, a bathtub you can actually take a bubble bath in, a dressing area with a closet large enough to store a couple of weeks worth of clothing, a large fridge without the ridiculously overpriced mini bar items, a convenient gadget bar where you can recharge all your gadgets at waist level rather than on an overcrowded nightstand. Even the TV remote had its own leather holster. This room feels like it was designed by people who really care about your comfort and ease of use and know how to do it while pampering you in silk and find grained leather.

The pool and gym are also first class as was the buffet breakfast all of which we inspected but unfortunately did not have the time to partake in. Our only mistake was in choosing this hotel for a quick overnite stay on our way to Cambodia. This place deserves a minimum 3 nite stay if not a 3 week stay. Absolute best of all: under $150 a nite for a level of luxury worth double that. If you've ever wondered what life is like staying at a world class 5 Star Luxury hotel, but felt that you could never afford it, my friend, your ship has come in.

Room Tip: For the best deal around, prepay the room at the time of booking, but beware that this is non-refund...

As a veteran of holidays to Thailand, I was eager to break away from the usual favourites and try something new and in Oriental Residence, I could not be more satisfied. The service, the rooms, the decor were all perfect and we enjoyed being off the tourist trails. Our massive room was hugely comfortable and the beds so comfortable! Really good value and the Sticky Rice with Mango in our room was a nice surprise to come home to after a long day in Bangkok. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful.
