I have been traveling to Thailand for over 10 years now and have eaten here many times and never had a bad meal the staff are friendly.

The service and food is very good,it is always pretty full with Thai dinners having the house special frog with holy basil.
I love this place

“Great respite for lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

We were in Bangkok to explore. I had negotiates with a tuk tuk at The way of The Golden mount to tour us about three other temples. So the GF and I were deposited at the Way of the Standing Buddah at midday with the sun nearly touching the earth and no real idea what was where.

We saw the Crown Kitchen was 0.3mi from us and the excellent reviews. The discussion went along the lines of:

Jesus maybe there was air con!
If its got shade beer and a seat that's 4 stars in my book.
Which way fool!?!! I'm melting!

We got there, dodging 100% natives smiling at the sweaty Americans stumbling in the heat and light headed from hunger. And then we were there.

The door opened to wonderful AC, smiling staff and the smells promising a damn tasty meal. We were not to be disappointed. The menu was Bangkok standard, easy. The staff was friendly and enthusiastic to help.

Beer was brought, and water. What did we want? How can we help? All questions were answered and our meal of curry, sausage and "sea bass" appeared on our table in short order.

We loved it! Yes my sour pork curry was hot enough to bend time, and that's great! The sea bass, we started eating it incorrectly and sure enough a kind man dripped in and instructed us as to condiments and technique. This took the dish from good to over the top tasty.

A few more libations and we were fortified for the afternoons awaiting adventures. This all cost say 1200baht.

Go try, enjoy and smile!

“A well kept secret”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

This highly respected and reputable establishment among Thai society deserves to be much better known among visitors. Particularly for those with engagements at the UN Conference Centre just 200m down the road, this is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful, with excellent English, but if you do make an effort to speak even just "nit-noi" Thai, as anywhere in Thailand, this is greatly respected.

There is a huge variety of food on the menu, including many items that lean towards the exotic to Farangs, but if you're prepared to be adventurous you'll have a memorable experience here

“Darn it! (An inside secret finally revealed on TA)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Darn it! This was, for over a decade, my all-time favourite place in Bangkok. Patrons kept it secret from Websites - only sharing it personally with closest friends to protect it from being over-run by "non-family" strangers.

But now it has been "out-ed".

I understand that, since my last visit, there might have been a change in the cooking staff, and that the place may have slipped a bit. That might drop it down to a mere 5-stars (it has been heavenly over the years, for food and understated nice vibe).

“Great food, truly local, nice staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

I lived in Bangkok in 2005 and have come back every two or three years. The Crown Kitchen is really a must, mostly because I work with the UN which has their buidling two blocks away. The restaurant has basically all typical Thai food, and even the pineapple rice is served INSIDE A PINEAPPLE! The staff are very nice, there are some who are perfectly fluent in English and they are also very kind when you try to order in broken Thai (they correct you and everything). It's also pretty cheap.
