“Bad Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Bad service-
1. we request for double bed but they give us twin bed.
2. we request for non-smoking room, but i can smell the smoke from the aircond!very bad
3. we request to change to higher floor, A receptionist promise to change for us on 2nd day. But when come to 2nd day, B receptionist said no people inform??? Then B receptionist promise to hold a room at 6 floor for us, promise that tomorrow (3rd day) will let us to move in.3rd day morning A receptionist told us no room AGAIN! What kind of system !! Then he said the room occupied already, after we ask him check izzit the room booked under XXX name only he said:"oh yes....." Still we need to teach them how to check =.=
4.Bad attitude for both of the receptionist!
5.Housekeeping never clean our bathroom! They just sweep the floor change all the towel and refill mineral water.

* Never ask their own hotel taxi to send you to airport , they charged 500baht ! Which is so so expensive !

It was really hard to find this place at first. My friends and I literally got lost about 3 times while looking for the locations and the locals are not even sure of the exact direction as well. However, when we got there, it was nicely furnished but just the half of it some furnitures are still covered in plastics. The staffs are nice and helpful and they also provide free hotel tuk tuk service. The internet service is just so so. The rooms are okay, beds are comfortable but the bathroom is just too small. Outside the hotel, there is a Family Mart, a 24 hour convenience store and also the whole lane is filled with food street vendors and also night market. The food are cheap and nice and you can get really cheap shopping from the night market.

The location of the hotel is initially pretty hard to locate, but with guidance from the internet it was fairly reasonable to get the location of the hotel.

Look for the address of CITIN PRATUNAM or BLUTIQUE or PRATUNAM PAVILION. The hotel location is along the same stretch of lane located at the RIGHT HAND SIDE, opposite Family Mart, after Pratunam Pavilion.
If you are taking tuk tuk or Taxi, get them to send you to Citin Pratunam.
Locate this lane: Ratchaprarop Road, Phayathai, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand

The service from the staff at Grand Alpine was good, despite an blackout on New Year's Day. Within 1-2 hours the power were back on.

They are very helpful and willing to assist all enquires.

The only few downsides are:
-The daily room service are unlike other hotels, they come at different timings for room service.
-The doors are not soundproof.
-It's a fairly new hotel, and still under renovation, probably after the renovation, it would be a better place!

Side note: Please bring along your own toiletries(shower foam, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush and etc) and towels. You should also consider bringing your own toilet paper, as they only provide 1 roll unlike other hotels, which have 2 or more rolls in the room.

Bad service:
1. Contrary to previous raving reviews, this hotel does NOT provide free tuk tuk service. What they do, is that they have this network of tuk tuk drivers who will come by and pick up customers at the hotel, we have to pay for it, and the fees aren't reasonable for local tuk tuk rates. We asked to go to a seafood restaurant and they arranged a tuk tuk to pick us up for 50 baht. It was a very short drive, and our return trip was easily only 20 baht. The seafood restaurant we were sent to was a tourist trap, the seafood was overpriced and the tuk tuk driver was paid for sending people there. Grand Alpine does not feel like a very honest hotel.

2.
Bad room:
1. The bed has ants, and when we told them about it, we were asked to wait until the next day 9am before they will come to change it. The sheets were dirty with obvious stains, and poorly fitted, such that they come out easily after sitting on it for awhile. In fact, the sheets were too small for the bed. We have no choice but to wait until the next day for a fresh change of sheets, for the hotel refuses to listen to our queries further. It's itchy to sit on as well.

2. The bin has ants too, and when we asked them to change the lining, they had to ask us, "what's wrong with the bin?" The hotel does not feel very entertaining toward guest requests for cleaniless.

3. The internet is very unstable. And only towel and hand soap is provided. Please bring your own shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and toothbrush.

4. The photos provided by the hotel are quite different from what you see in real life. There are obvious dirty stains on their furnitures, and when we checked a premier room on the 8th floor, it was not properly furnished like in the photos.

Tricky location:
1. For a foreigner, the place is hard to locate. We're aware that other hotels like Citin Pratunam are nearby, but these aren't well known either. When walking back at night, I'd advise ladies to return before its too late because its easy to get lost in the alley ways. Some of the alley ways nearby are pretty shady, and feels unsafe. Taxis can't drive in to the area, so we'd have to walk a stretch on our own. Take a tuk tuk if you can, but be sure to ride a safe one.

The four of us booked our room through agoda.com and we got 2 twin rooms at a really reasonable price of SGD46 per night (SGD23 per person per night). The hotel is situated in the rather chaotic but very vibrant district of Pratunam, which is also where Platinum Mall is situated (our key shopping destination). There is a free tuk tuk service during the day, which ferries guests to the main road, directly opposite Platinum Mall.

We managed to find the place with relative ease as we had read from previous reviews that the hotel is directly opposite Citin Pratunam Hotel, which is fairly well known by the local cabbies and Thais living in the area.

The hotel was still partly under construction during our stay. However, we were never affected by excessive dust or construction noise as we left in the morning and returned only later at night.

Staff were extremely helpful, helping us to flag cabs when we needed them (so that the cabbies would agree to a lower price and not the "tourist" rate), and leading us through a shortcut to the Airport Railway station.

The only minor complaint we had was that due to a communication error between the reception and hotel staff, we were awoken one morning by the sound of the hotel staff trying to enter our room with their master key. Thankfully we had the safety lock in place or else we would have gotten a rude shock of strangers in the room. However, I expect that these hiccups would eventually be ironed out once the hotel's operations go into full swing.

This time, although we confirmed the rooms by calling twice from Colombo, when we arrived, there was no rooms available and the hotel was under construction too. after a it of hesitation shown, we were offered rooms in their sister hotel Tara Monte (Just behind this property - but good access)..which I have stayed 3 years ago....the rooms were not bad..same standard. Some improvements were..Bigger TV(not flat), Water heater for coffee/tea making, quality of linen, lift (Small, limited capacity only 3 people at a time, but serves the purpose...

Rooms are swept and cleaned, towels changed but not sure of bed sheets changed, we asked them after 2 days then they changed...Individual A/C units so you have the control..

The corridors are used as storing area for various utensils (moper, some hardware, towel etc) gives you a stores atmosphere when you come out of the room..

Did not see any "extra activities" so family stay is fine..

Rooms with windows bit expensive but worth it...

This is something the hotel management should take care. Like few reviewers I do have the complain of not being met. Since I am a season traveler I did not wanted airport pickup..but took the city-line (40 bhat) from airport to Ratchaprarop station which were asked to call once we reach, so that they could send a tuk-tuk to pick us up because of ....we arrived we called but tuk-tuk never came..waited for 20minutes called again, to find that the receptionist did not understand..no tuk-tuk. So walked (5minutes - shortcut - found later).

The hotel staff mixed quality..certain days the one particular receptionist - very good although her English was poor, but very courteous and helpful..others do not speak English..

Easy location although, Grand Alphine is a bit tough to find if you are a fresher, but once you get in then you'll be fine..

No Food served..No Breakfast...No Restaurant in the hotel..but plenty around.

Will stay again...

Room Tip: Select rooms with windows specially if you not comfortable in closed rooms..check for the toilet lea...

We had called for a airport transfer since sept. double comfirm on the night before we fly from Singapore. But when we arrival there was no one to pick us up. We wasted two hours at the airport. Took a cab and there is a hard time finding the hotel. When found it. We can check in waited for 30 mins. But it's was 4pm. We should check in at 2pm. Room are not ready. But customer service is really good. Nice and they try to fulfill your needs.they will always smile towards you. Overall will be a good place to stay in bkk.
