“Bangkok on fast track”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

The hotel is easy accessible by the city sky-train network. And this is really important with the current amount of traffic in Bangkok today.
Me and my girlfriend arrived by train from the international airport, went straight from the sky-train to the reception, and had easy access to most of the central parts of the city from here, while we stayed in Bangkok.

In between shopping and sightseeing the Pool area at the 14th floor are a great relax area.

The breakfast is international and good and the staff is always smiling and attending our every need.

If you get a room high up in the building you are also guarantied a great view from your room - recommendable.

Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn deserves the top rating at TripAdvisor, we where very satisfied with our stay.

Room Tip: Upgrade your room to guarantee a great view of the city.

Great infinity pool, great rooms, great breakfast. Inexpensive if you book early enough.

Concierge ineffective. We asked for restaurants nearby and were told there aren't any. Later we saw that one of the best restaurants in town is literally next door! Another concierge promised us to confirm restaurant reservations to us but forgot to do so.

Pool bar service good only if your table is directly visible from the bar. Otherwise, no waiter seems to notice you.

33 floors but only 4 elevators, so you spend lots of time waiting for the elevator and then picking up other guests on the way.

At the pool, you never find a vacant pool chair, not even in the morning. So, enjoying the ultimate highlight of this hotel is not possible most of the time.

Dear Starnberg2011

Greetings from Eastin Grand Sathorn Bangkok.

Firstly may I take this opportunity to offer both you and your fellow Trip Advisor readers a happy and healthy 2014.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experiences of your time with us over the holiday season and say how delighted I was that many aspects of your stay met your satisfaction.

However I was extremely concerned to learn about the less than perfect service you received from our concierge and pool staff and would like to offer a genuine apology over these. The level of service you received was certainly not in keeping with the usual high standards that we try to achieve and that has led us to proudly maintain such a high position on this website.

Regarding this I have held a meeting with the department heads concerned over your specific comments so as they may address the issues you mentioned for immediate improvement and a maintaining of the exemplary brand standards you expect from an Eastin hotel.

I also deeply regret that you were inconvenienced by the wait for the lifts and lack of a vacant pool chair. The issue regarding the lift has been addressed on Trip Advisor before and we do attempt to alleviate the waiting time as much as possible. Unfortunately as this is the high season and we are currently running at full occupancy many of our guests choose to enjoy the pleasant temperatures by the pool.

May I end by saying that despite those aspects of your stay that caused you to award us an “average” score we dearly hope that you could find the time to visit us again where you can see the results of your invaluable feedback in action.

Yours sincerely,

John Westoby

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Eastin for the first two nights of our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it.

Upon checking in we were advised the we had been given a complimentary upgrade. Our room was amazing - bright, light and very spacious. The bathroom in particular was very special... Including a huge walkin shower and lovely free standing bath.

The infinity pool area and the bar is brilliant.... Cocktails are really yummy!

The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. They arranged for us to use the hotel limo service for our airport transfers (at a very reasonable cost). Certainly best way to travel.

The concierge was brilliant and arranged a private one day tour of the city. This was ideal as it was tailor made for us and included a personal guide, all transport and also lunch. Great value.

Would recommend this hotel in a heart beat.... Great place to stay.

You can't fault the staff or service at the Eastin. It's everything you'd expect from this type of hotel. Be warned, though, that you can be left waiting a while for the lifts at busy periods and finding a space at the pool can be difficult. Not the cheapest, but the rooms were very comfortable, spacious and clean. Useful links to the sky rail and only a short walk from Silom Road for better and cheaper food and drinks. Breakfast selection is good and varied.

From start to finish the stay was flawless. Favourite parts being pool and bar area, view, breakfast, staff and direct access to the Bangkok Transit System station. An oasis of calm in a busy, buzzing and vibrant city. Could not recommend this hotel enough

Room Tip: The higher rooms have the best views of the Bangkok skyline

Having stayed several times before we anticipated great things from Eastin but our expectations were surpassed. We tried the Executive Lounge package which offers excellent value. The room is large, well laid out with multiple seating areas and types of seating. Staff are attentive. River views are superb from the 32nd floor location. It's a great place from which to watch the sunset during the cocktail hours from 5.30-7.30 with an excellent range of canapes and savoury treats. I rate the food and decor above the Conrad and Okura lounges.
We'll certainly return as, overall, EGS currently offers the best value in Bangkok.
