“Great hotel, Good value for money.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Great hotel, all staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed on the 20th floor and the view of the city was great. Infinity pool was fantastic and so was the view. The rooms are very spacious and modern and the food was brilliant. Location was slightly out of the the center but that was a good thing! overall great hotel and would definitely stay again.

My and my girlfriend have booked three nights at Eastin Grand at the end of our month long Asia round trip. The first day was nothing to complain about we arrived late with the hotel car service, and ordered room service dinner and a bottle of wine. It was excellent and the view was fantastic.

On the second day we had a great breakfast and went shopping at the nearby shopping-center, spending close to 60.000 baht there.

We then went to the pool on the hotel which was crowded, so we sat in the bar and ordered some soda and some drinks, eventually my girlfriend got a sunbed by the pool, at around 19.00 she went to the toilet for only 3-4 minutes by the time she got back her sunbed was occupied by another couple and her towel and belongings were gone.

We asked the staff and the new couple what had happened and the couple said that the pool-boy had removed the towel and they then occupied it after.

Then all hell broke loose, we informed them we were missing some expensive sunglasses, and the staff immediately started to ransack the other couple, literally going through their stuff in front of us, which was something we had not asked for. They didn't find the sunglasses and only then did they call the pool-boy who found the glasses in the used towel bin some minutes later.

Considering how much we had spent in the pool-bar that day it was disappointing that we were tossed away like that although we had planned to go up relatively soon after, and prepare for the lobster dinner at the hotel. However after our experience we didn't stomach going out to eat. The hotel manager came up to the room with a fruit platter a few hours later and offered apologies for what had happened.

On the third day we had another excellent breakfast and went on a hotel booked personal guided tour of the city, when we came back at 14.00 we found our room in the same condition we had left it in and we did not have the do not disturb light on as we had gone in and out of the room a few times that morning and we didn't have it on during the night either.

We called the reception and they cleaned the room while we were at the pool, we didn't get any apologies for that one though.

I still have one night left at the hotel and I'm wondering what's next.

I still do recommend the hotel though, it's just that I've been really unlucky the last few days it seems or the hotel staff is playing us a practical joke.

Dear someone651

Greetings from Eastin Grand Sathorn Bangkok.

May I thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experiences at Eastin Grand Sathorn. Your opinion is extremely important to us in ensuring that we maintain our high standards and provide our guests with a relaxing and rewarding stay by attending to any problems in a timely manner.

I am glad that the majority of your stay was enjoyable but would like to offer my sincere apologies and regrets that a couple of issues marred your experience and caused you to award us an average score on Trip Advisor.

I would like to explain the regrettable incident at the Pool Bar if I may. As in many deluxe hotels due to the popularity of the sun loungers at front of the pool area unfortunately some guests “reserve” the loungers without thought for others and our staff are under instructions to remove belongings that remain on an unoccupied lounger for an inordinate amount of time. This gives our other guests the chance to enjoy the facilities for themselves. Unfortunately because, as you mentioned, the pool area was crowded our staff made a mistake and thought that your lounger was unoccupied for a considerable length of time, thus removing your belongings. In their enthusiasm to assist you when your sunglasses were reported missing they then checked the following guests’ belongings instead of checking your used towels. I feel sure you understand that the staff were only trying their level best to help rather than ignore your problem as might happen in other hotels. I fully accept that the way in which the situation was handled was not proper and have instructed my pool manager that in future every avenue must be explored regarding missing items and also that the pool team must be more observant regarding which guests, such as yourselves, have only just arrived. I hope that my waiving of your room service charge goes some way in expressing my regrets regarding your experience.

I would like to politely inform you that on the day you mentioned we were running at full occupancy therefore it became necessary for our housekeeping team to clean rooms in the afternoon to ensure that all rooms are prepared to our strict hotel standards. I am happy to learn that they serviced your room in a timely manner after being contacted by yourself.

I would also like to politely refute your comment that the staff were playing some sort of “practical joke” on you. I am sorry that you construed their efforts to assist you in this way as at Eastin Grand Sathorn we are dedicated in helping the guest in any way we can.

May I end by saying that, despite the incidents you mentioned, I deeply appreciate your recommendation of our hotel and we look forward to serving you in the very near future.

Yours sincerely,

Patrick Manthe

This was not what we expected for the price. Very city, very smart, very new and very lovely! The pool takes your breath away. The gym is fun if you have brought running shoes on your travels. The breakfast spread was incredible. Sadly we couldn't eat anything as we were all struck down by food poisoning in the night (not from the eastin I hasten to add) but they did allow us to take some takeaway out so we could eat it later. The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive.

great room, with a wonderful view over the city. the staff was extremely helpful and the breakfast was flawless. Despite being somewhat far from the city center, the skytrain made everything easier. Overall, a great place to stay!

ps: the pool is awesome!

The rooms are very well appointed and have excellent view. We stayed in the 21st floor and had view of the river, BTS and other tall towers... The bed was big and comfortable.
In all my travelling, Eastin Grand had the widest spread of breakfast. The food included all the typical continental stuff (bread, egg, cereal, fruits, juices etc), hot thai food (spring rolls, rice, spicy bean sprouts), Dimsums, Japanese food (though I din try)... Despite our vegetarian restrictions, we had very good choice and thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Access to sky train was the biggest factor that drew us to this hotel and in hindsight, it was a very good decision. There was no need to step on the road at all, most of the tourist places (Malls, Siam Sq etc) were connected by sky train. The river is just one stop away and was very convenient to visit Grand Palace, reclining Buddha and Wat Arun.

Room Tip: Go for the higher floors, the view is just amazing...

My husband and I were at the Eastin for almost a week in Mid-May. The hotel was fantastic. We arrived several hours before check-in time so we went up to the pool and changed in the change rooms. The view from the infinity pool was fantastic and it was great to just relax after a very long trip. The hotel room was perfect, everything is clean and professional. The food was great, though over-priced. One of the best features of this hotel is that you can catch the skytrain from the 3rd floor. Can't get more convenient than that. it was super easy to get around and a very short trip to the river. The staff was super helpful, and the taxi cab driver (Bas) was amazing and funny. He drove us to several places, including to the ferry for Koh Sumet, a few hours away. The hotel takes safety very seriously. All taxi cabs that work for the hotel get screened and they all have GPS in their cabs. In case the driver diverges from the trip you should be on, the hotel will contact them to inquire. We didn't feel unsafe throughout our trip in Thailand. When we go back, Eastin will be our choice again. The only other downside is that there isn't much around the hotel if you want to walk around. Again though, you can easily take the skytrain to wherever you want to go. We also booked a private tour (floating market, train market, elephant ride) through the hotel, which was perfect as well. Perfect hotel! Thank you!
