“Pretty Good for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

I must say that after reading some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive, but over all we had a good experience, especially for that price. A lot of people complained about how hard the beds are: I've been living in Japan for 15 years and sleeping on a futon, and it wasn't as hard as that. The room and bathroom floors weren't the cleanest ones I had seen, but the room and the hotel were generally clean. The staff was kind and helpful whenever we had questions or requests. Wifi worked well, and there is a small convenience store and a laundry service on the premise. My advice for all those overpampered whiners: if you expect the Holiday Inn for 800 baht a night, maybe you should fork out a little more money and go there.

This is the first time I have stayed at the SPB Paradise Hotel and next time I come to Bangkok I will stay here again. It is a little out of the way but they have a shuttle service to the MRT.which takes no time at all to get you to the BTS and downtown Bangkok. The rooms have everything you need, including a table and armchairs. They are a pretty decent size with plenty of wardrobe space to hang your clothes if you are staying for a few days The fridge is double the size of a bar fridge. The hotel looks very clean and staff are helpful.
There are lots of local eateries very close by and the shuttle will drop you off
Wifi is not superfast but adequate.

I have stayed here on a few occasions now & still find it to be very good value. Room is clean & well presented, comfortable bed & has the basic amenities. If i want a bigger & better furnished hotel.. of course i can find but likely for double the price of SPB hotel. I am okay with this place & actually like the location. It has that residential atmosphere yet it is pretty central to many places such as JJ market, Sukhumvit & is 5 minutes walk to an MRT station. The staff don't go out of their way to please but they attend to my questions & needs so i am fine & overall happy with my visits here.

The rooms are pleasant.

Most importantly they have multiple routers on each floor.

Meaning the wifi works as well as one can expect in a country like Thailand, which has terrible wifi, unlike Laos, strangely enough which has 4G network. And Romania. Go figure...

The staff is professional, their are washing machines and a golf cart service to the nearest subway which is only a 5mn walk away.

I've been staying all over Bangkok for many years now.. and this is one of the best values for 800bht a night (25usd).

Pros: cheap,
near MRT
near market but ...

Cons: far from center, you may trade off the room price for the transit price
wifi is not always available
room is small and bathroom is smell, I found a small cockroach once :(
Service is not really good, we must wait til check in time (14h)
Reception is not helpful in supporting for tour service. I asked but they cannot help anything.
Market food and drink are not so good, market is not always open.
Have shuttle to drive customers to MRT but less, we must wait for a long time

The pros: cheap, nice rooms with a balcony (superior room).

The cons:

1 during our first night we had to change rooms due to incredibly loud neighbors. Hotel barely acted, only assigning us to a different room after we asked them four times. Did nothing to the noisy guests, though.

2 At 1.30 someone suddenly came in our room while we were sleeping. It appeared to be a tired tuktuk driver, regardless of our 'do not disturb' sign. Pretty disturbing.

3 Furthermore the wifi barely worked, router time outs every 5 minutes.

4 On our last day there was no water in the entire hotel, so that we couldn't shower or go to the toilet for almost 3 hours.

5 Apart from this all the room is quite far away from the action. The mrt is not that close.

6 Apparently, if you leave your room after 11 am they don't clean it. We had to ask for towels two days in a row, even though our sign was hanging on the door.

7 walls are paper thin. You hear the elevator and other rooms all the time.

8 beds are, like mentioned by other people, rock hard. My back hurt days after I left Bangkok.

9 Finally, the staff is not really helpful or friendly. After asking about the price for a taxi to the airport they quoted a much higher price than it should be. Therefore not helpful at all.

Overall: pick a different hotel, you can find a better place for this price.
