“Exceptional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

In spite of its rave reviews, it proved surprisingly easy to make a late booking for a table on a Saturday night. The taxi driver had some difficulty finding it, even with the address in Thai.
The menu read well - innovative dishes with lots of interesting flavour combinations; it was difficult to choose. My starter was Mango Salsa Shrimp in a soft Taco, followed by Pan-fried white snapper in a Lavender-infused cream sauce on a chick pea purée. The dessert was sea salt crime brûlée. The pre-dinner cocktails were very good and, for a change, the non-alcoholic cocktails were just as good.
The food didn't disappoint - very well cooked and presented and full of subtle, well-balanced flavours.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, getting a taxi for us and recommending late night venues.
The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars? 2 niggles - no coffee available and the washrooms; visiting them was like entering a very damp cellar,

“Awesome! Not a tourists place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

Finally,
A great place for dinner in bangkok and not crowded of tourists!
We read the review and after the frist nights around kao san road we just wanted to get away for all those tourists places!
We were right! The place is nice, the service a bit slow, but..who cares?the wait totally worth!
The dishes were absolutely amazing. We were in 3 and we had shrimp soft tacos, a chicken quesadilla, 2 filet mignon with gorgonzola (delicious and tender), 1 gnocchi al gorgonzola, 2 creme brule and 2 cokes. We paid 2050 bhat, maybe you could thing is too much for bangkok but the quality of food is so high!

We are coming back for sure

“Out of the way but with excllent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Just had dinner today at Seven Spoons. After our cab driver was given instructions on how to locate the place he still got lost. Even after 2 phone calls he gad trouble fining it. However once we got there it was reassuring. Located in old town Bangkok, near the UN, its is surrounded by shuttered shops at night. Inside its concrete walls and floors. Simple timber tables and steel chairs with only 5 tables and half a dozen bar stools. The menu is interesting and different. We had the lentil fritters and mango salsa shrimp filled tacos for starters. They were excellent. Subtle flavours in the lentils whilst the mango filled tacos were delicious. Followed it up with mains of risotto balls and seafood marinara and pan seared snapper with lavender cream sauce and pistachios. Yummy. The fish was cooked perfectly and the flavours were wonderful.
We picked it as it was #3 on TA. Is it worthy of this high a rating. Probably not, as there are much better restaurants in Bangkok. But they are also much more expensive. The entire meal, no drinks, for us came to 1,110 baht. So the difficulty in finding it was worth the effort. Friendly staff and filled with young people who know where to find good food. Just make sure you have the directions and phone number so the taxi driver can call when he is lost.

“Good Mediterranean fare.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

We ordered the mushroom tempura and the shrimp taco with mango. The tacos flavors busted in our mouth, very fresh.
The crab ravioli sauce was good but the crab meat was not very fresh and had a fishy taste. Caramilized Duck was decent.
Overall a good experience.
