“Great with only one drawback”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

As on our previous trip, once again we stayed at Mansion Sarasinee several times on this trip. Nothing has changed since our previous stays there, however I thought it worthy of another review to point out their many good points and one weak point.

Last time, we left an empty suitcase with them, hoping to be back within a few months to collect it. It turned out that this trip was about 18 months after the last trip and we would have understood had they got rid of the suitcase but it was still there waiting for us when we arrived.

As we traveled to different places on this trip, we left several suitcases with them so as not to have to take all our luggage with us everywhere and they kindly kept it all for us. Their only concern was that there not be something valuable that may get stolen from the bags. We also ordered something that had to be made for us while we were traveling and it was delivered while we weren't at Mansion Sarasinee and, true to form, was waiting for us when we returned at the end of our trip to collect all our things.

I had to be in hospital over the dates of our last reservation and we arrived at Mansion Sarasinee in the afternoon of the day we needed to check out so, technically, our reservation was over. We asked to pay for a short term room for a few hours to organize our things before we had to go to the airport to fly home and they kindly let us have a room for free "on the account of the now expired reservation" which was very generous of them indeed.

The only reason this hotel doesn't get five stars is that their WiFi is very slow. If an internet connection is important to you (as it is to most people these days), it's very frustrating to work with slow internet. If they would just fix their bandwidth and connectivity, the hotel would be perfect as it has so many positives that counterbalance this one negative issue - their extremely convenient location, friendly staff (for the most part), flexibility and desire to be truly helpful to their customers.

We'll certainly be back again! :)

Room was very basic - awful lighting! Very noisy air con.
Hotel room was clean. Not a homely hotel at all.
Walking distance to Skytrain and weekend market. The hotel is very out of the way and situated in a very local Thai area.
Awful wifi - kept disconnecting and losing network.
No restaurants, bars etc in the area.

Definitely our least-liked accommodation in our travels so far. Finding this hotel confused us, google maps, and our taxi driver--even after we called the hotel and had them speak. Wifi stopped working altogether after an hour or so, and the building must be converted from an old hospital or ward of some sort.

Must be said the staff are friendly and helpful, and the in-lobby restaurant means you don't need to venture out. Good enough for a one-night layover if you're going to Chatuchak market or connecting to Mo-Chit bus station, but for no other reason we can think of would we go back.

The hotel is within walking distance to Chatuchak market, with nice and helpful reception staff, clean room, very nice hotel reception area. You also have a balcony with the room, the room had even chairs with table and a big fridge. All very good! 500 BT deposit to leave for the key, which you get back at the end if all OK. Noisy air conditioner.

The rooms are clean and extremely practically useful. They provide a table and chairs and plates and utensils, in addition to the typical fridge you get in most places. There is also a balcony for washing up and drying laundry. These features easily outweigh the fact that the style of the rooms is very old fashioned.

The location is outstanding, and walkable to the Chatuchak (Weekend) market, though you'll probably need a taxi to bring all your purchases back with you. The Skytrain is a short walk from the hotel and there are good Thai massage places nearby too. The back road to the Skytrain takes you past many street food vendors so you'll never be hungry and the price is super cheap.

The service is very pleasant at the hotel and they are very fair and accommodating where possible for any special requests.

We'll definitely stay there next time we're in Bangkok!

They have a fitness center that looked modern enough but we didn't use it so can't really comment on that. They also have swimming in the pool at the hotel across the road (also owned by them) but we didn't avail ourselves of this feature so can't comment on it.

Room Tip: The area is quiet so I'd imagine that any room is fine from a noise point of view.

For the price we paid for the rooms, we were more than happy. The rooms had large balconies, were decorated in modern styles and the little restaurant that's at the front of the hotel offers some of the best iced coffee's i have ever had. We had a late check-in and this was no problem. We also checked out late by 3 hours and were not charged for it. The room itself had a large double bed that was clean and comfortable, the room had an LCD tv with cable, and the colour scheme was in lime green which was really nice. It is a 5 minute walk to the bts train station and has a big c superstore round the corner. The only downside is that the hotel is at the end of a long soi that makes it a bit hard to find the first time. We can not praise the security guard enough as he helped us to take our luggage all the way back down the soi on our departure as no taxi's were around the hotel entrance at the time. Will definitely be back again some day.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room that overlooks the front of the hotel as the road outside is very quiet.

It offers basic and affordable accommodation. It is near the JJ market and a few minutes walk from the BTS Saphan Kwai station. There's a shorter way through the back entrance of the hotel to go to the JJ market and the BTS.

The room we were in had everything we need for an overnight stay, after spending a day going around the weekend market. Unfortunately, they are strict with the check in time. We arrived early from Chiang Mai, but they didn't allow us to check in. There's a convenience store, laundromat and restaurant. There are several mini marts and a large department store nearby. The staff are accommodating. They only accept cash.

If you plan to explore Bangkok, it's better to stay at the Silom area or other districts.
