“Dim sum fix”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

This is one of my favourite easy restaurants, its located in Central World close to the Food Hall and Cinema.
Having frequented Din Tai Fung previously while living in Singapore and Hong Kong I was pleased to find it when we moved to Bangkok
The xiao long bao (pork soup dumplings) are a must try as are the shrimp wonton, duck spring roll & pork fried rice. If you arrive a little before 12 for lunch then usually your wait is not long but arrive at 12:30 and there could be 50+ people ahead of you, though its worth the wait.. Its clean and works like a machine, you can watch the chefs making dumplings through the window.
Dinner time is not as busy as lunch though can be at weekends..
ENJOY

“i'm addicted.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

I love the food at din tai fung! prices are a bit expensive, and the wait for a table when your hungry is very annoying, but the fact that its always full says something about this place! always satisfied with my meals here, and always want to go back for the amazing xiao lum pao and earl grey lemon tea.

“They charge VAT on top of service charge...very dodgy.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Food great. Service okay.
The only reason I write this review is in hope that they will stop charging 7% VAT on top of the 10% service fee. I have raised this a few times with them as a dishonest practice but suddenly the ability to speak English disappears. Check your bill carefully after eating and raise the point with the manager. Don't let it spoil your meal, the food is great as I said, and at the end of the day it's not a lot of money. Very disappointing at the greed factor involved in this practice.

“Food is consistently good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013 via mobile

I have eaten at Din Tai Fung in both Singapore and Hong Kong and found the food in Bkk was to the standard elsewhere. The only thing they need to improve on is the service. It was not to the level that I have experienced before.

“An enjoyable, but not outstanding, dining experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

A member of a highly awarded chain originating in Taipei this outlet is situated in the top level restaurant area of Central World building. It is well laid out and customers awaiting tables can view the chefs at work. We had lunch and, even when we left, the restaurant was full with many people studying the menus as they waited for a table. It was by far the busiest restaurant in the precinct.
Dishes are ordered from a well laid out menu, dim sum style, and brought promptly. We shared six dishes, all generous portions. Four of the dishes were very tasty while two were a little bland and disappointing.
Prices were reasonable and service was professional.
Overall, a satisfactory but not momentous experience and not at award winning level.
