“Best hostel I've ever been to”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

This is one of the best hostels I've been in. The rooms are all air conditioned, the spaces are all clean and the front desk workers are very helpful and speak english well. I suggest you use it as a home base and book all your activities separately over the net.
For the price, this place is awesome.

Great rooms, bathrooms and infrastructure. Thats all.

Tourist packages to floating market and elephant ride are overpriced. To the floating market we paid 800B and when arrived there, the boat on the market was not included, so we paid more 150B each to take the boat. The elephant riding they promise 30min ride and feed, and it was less than 10 minutes.

Also they we could use credit card only with values above 500B when the waitress said before the dinner that there was no minimum value.

The location is really bad. Although it's near the skytrain, when we needed to take a taxi, many drivers didn't want to take us there because there is to much traffic on the area.

As most of the comments below say, yes this is more like a hotel than a hostel, as the service is exceptional and everything is very well done. Made to feel so welcome when we arrived, and the rooms are incredibly clean and modern. Downstairs has a restaurant and a cafe, free use of computers, and also there are TV rooms and laundry rooms on some of the floors. So it may not be as social as other hostels I've been in but they do organise trips to Koh San road for a night out etc.
Another fantastic thing about is place is the location! 5 mins from BTS, which is by the the best way to travel around Bangkok. MBK in 10mins, airport 1hr etc...
It is also surrounded by a nice mix of cafes, spas and also the famous Hangover skybar round the corner which is worth a look (men can't wear shorts, no flip flops at all).. And you don't even have to buy a drink, just enjoy the view.
Prices are fantastic for this gem of a find!

Clean rooms, modern facilities, helpful staff, not the best location for bars/restaurants but very close to the train station and boat port which is easy enough to use for traveling to busier locations.

I was traveling on business and decided to try staying at a hostel instead of the usual hotel.
Saphaipae was recommended to me by a couple of friends, and lived up to the hype.

My room was on the 8th floor, accessible via the elevator. Not quite a 5-star hotel, but it was big enough for all my needs.

The first floor is very spacious, where you can play pool or board games, use the internet, eat at the hostel restaurant, or mingle with the other guests.
The restaurant is really really good. Although prices are a bit above local, they're still reasonably cheap (meal for THB100-120), and the pinapple fried rice is amazing (served inside a real pinapple).

The staff is helpful and friendly. The place is awesome for backpackers, but I also recommend it as an alternative to a hotel. Cheaper, friendlier, and makes you feel more comfortable.

Another plus is that it's located close to Surasak BTS, so even if it's rush hour in Bangkok you can always get on the BTS and be in the airport within an hour.

Room Tip: Lower floors are a bit easier to access, since the elevator gets a lot of traffic.

Me and my girlfriend stayed in a private room on the 8th floor. Staff were always helpful and courteous, if a little brusque. There's a good cafe on the ground floor with decent and cheap food and drink.

The room was the star of the show; very spacious and clean with a excellent polished concrete bathroom complete with huge walk-in shower. Ideal for those on a business trip looking for a good night's sleep. The only let down was the huge and very noisy aircon unit.

The location is also very good, as it's right next to Surasak Skytrain station and the Silom night market. There are some really nice cafes and spas nearby too. It takes about an hour to get to BKK airport using public transport.

Room Tip: The top floor is very quiet.

The hostel has great facilities in regards to bedroom and bathroom, end of story.
All the other aspects are terrible, the tourist packages to the floating market and elephant ride have hidden unpleasant surprises, you pay for a 30 minutes ride and to feed the elephant but when you get there you discover that the ride lasts 10 minutes and that you have to pay separated for the food.
The staff is absolutelly not accountable for any responsability that they should have. Do not count on them to solve any issue.
The packages are always over priced, not following a backpacker's mindset, for exemple: if you want a help to book a cab to the airport, the hostel will charge you 8x the taximeter price.
