“Well worth a visit!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

I am not sure how long Anna has been open but it certainly does resemble the old Anna’s Café that used to be in Soi Saladaeng. It resembles it in appearance, menu and service.

Anna is located on a tricky bit of Soi Pipat, best accessed from Sathorn (same corner as the Evergreen Laurel Hotel). Once there, you can’t miss it. It is a large renovated Thai House. The restaurant is very bright with lots of windows providing a smart atmosphere. My only issue is that with so many windows and tiled floors, it makes Ana a pretty noisy place. But I guess if you went in a large group, you really wouldn’t notice.
The menu is Thai and ranges from classic dishes to some more modern versions. I am told they also have a western menu, but as we were in the mood for Thai, we looked no further than the Thai dishes. The food is very good, although everything tends to be a tad sweet – I guess this is pretty typical of a lot of Bangkok Thai food. Despite this, we a had a great meal. We started with a somtam and some deep fried chicken wings. The chicken wings were a favourite – in fact, if memory serves, they tasted exactly the same as those served at the old Anna’s. We then followed this with Pork Ribs in a Panang Curry Sauce. Again, it was a little sweet, but the pork was tender and the curry had a great depth of flavour with a bit hit of kaffir lime. Another good dish was the Prawns in Choo Chee Sauce. The prawns were fresh and the sauce was well spiced. Out final dish was the grilled pork neck with lemongrass. This was my favourite: the pork was tender, and the lemongrass marinade was a great way to cut through the fat.
Like its predecessor, Anna’s specializes in cake –style desserts. We ordered an apple crumble pie and a lemon tart. The pastry was a little thick, but the taste was excellent.
Service was excellent. The waiters are friendly and professional. At one stage, the food was a little slow and so were given an extra complimentary dessert – a tiramusu cake. Really, our wait was minimal, so this was very appreciated.
It was my first time at Ana, but it won’t be my last. Highly recommended.

“Lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

A bit hard to find (it took me forever to find this restaurant at their new location, after they move from the previous one).
Beautiful setting, good service and good food. A bit pricey. Many younger well-to-do Thais like to celebrate their events here, so at times, you have quite a few groups - although they are not as boisterous as birthday groups in Chilli or TGI Fridays etc.

“Nice Patio, Excellent Service & Nice Art Work”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

For our last night in Bangkok my wife and I decided to go to this lovely place. It is not too far from the Patpon Night Market and the streets seemed safe. Our hotel concierge told us two ways to get there and we chose the one we were more comfortable with.

Upon arriving we were greeted and asked where we would like to be seated. We answered “on the patio”. It took only a moment to set up a fan and prepare a table for us. We both ordered Thai dishes, even though there were some western dishes on the menu. I ordered a prawn dish and my wife was going to be adventuresome and ordered something that neither of us was familiar with. When the main courses arrived, mine was very good and so was my wife’s. Hers it turned out was a variation of Pad Thai, very good, but not what she thought she was going to get.

We both thought the dinner was excellent and the service was great. We feel we will return on our next trip to Thailand.

“Nice variety of Thai, Amercan, and European”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Nice simple Thai, American, and European food in a café style atmosphere. Crowded at night so it can get a bit noisy. Food is served very fast. American and Eurpopean is okay, not spectacular, but the Thai food has some fusion blend which makes it nice. This store’s recommended dish is Lamb Curry. Nice wine selection. Good for a large party of people who have varying tastes.

“Charming & Tasteful with good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

We just happened upon The Anna Restaurant the other evening by accident and much to our surprise, we thought they did
a very nice job with both the cuisine & service. The two of us had appetizer plates & dinner and enjoyed both. Have we had better, oh sure, but honestly, the favors and execution of our dishes were spot on & while the staff seemed like they were teens, they were attentive. For the price, for a safe dining experience they doesn't assert the spice profile of its cuisine, We feel that they were perfect for what we felt like the other evening.
