I stayed here for 5 nights just before Christmas, paying 500B for room with ensuite and AC.
The room was very compact (very little room for anything else in the room except for the 2 twin beds, and a small end table). There were a couple of hooks on the wall to hang clothes from, and 2 windows so the room was quite bright. Apart from that it's pretty basic - only cold water in the shower, no wifi, or tv, and it's not particularly characterful, but it's clean. The AC only worked a little - it didn't really cool the room down much. Luckily when I visited it wasn't that hot.
The location was all right, far enough off the Khao San road to be a little less hectic, but still close to all the amenities (there are several great second hand bookshops in the area). I found a great veggie restaurant, Joy Luck Club, just around the corner by Santichaiprakan park (which is incidentally a lovely place to sit by the river and watch the world go by, or watch the nightly outdoor aerobics class after the national anthem at 6 each night).
There's a bit of music noise in the evening from the nearby restaurants and bars (my room was in the back) but not enough to stop me sleeping once I had my earplugs in. There is courtyard area you can sit out in, but i noticed it got taken over by a lot of large roaches in the evenings, so I never used it. (I should state that I never saw any roaches in the actual hotel building).
The hotel staff were polite and helpful, although not particularly friendly, but I suppose that's to be expected in a touristy/backpacker area of a big city.
Overall, it was a perfectly adequate place to stay for a few days.
